new lethal: throwable spike mine

    I just had an idea for a proximity mine that could be thrown like a grenade
    It can be purchased via the donor shop or in 2.0 whenever that comes out
    item: redstone torch
    Right click to throw with the same behavior as a grenade until it hits a block where it places itself. If the mine hits a block on which it cannot be placed it places itself on the nearest available block, likewise if it hits a player it places as close as possible to the "insufficient placing surface" resulting in near instant detonation. The mine explodes ONLY when a player comes within the radius of the explosion (small "red zone") or shoots it 3 times with ANY gun (if you're isoing use your pistol :stuck_out_tongue:). The explosion size would be a bit smaller than the LAW but would be instakill in that radius. The explosive triggers when you are within 2 blocks of the mine.

    Here are a couple ideas about texturing:

    If you don't want to make some maps look strange it can be a redstone torch in its off state

    The idea seems pretty good. tho it may be able to cause some problems.
    as you said, it will go to the most nearby block which (And i am not sure) may be able to glitch some things.

    But if there are no problems.

    the worst thing I could think of would be throwing it at a ceiling and having it place on the floor

    It's a cool and creative idea, but a month or 2 ago the redstoning has been deactivated(the redstone bug). So I'm not sure if it could be a redstone torch. But you have my vote! +1

    Perhaps you can destroy spike mines if they are placed by an enemy. That way it's defusable if you see it, not total area denial. Other than that, this is one of the best equipment ideas I've seen in a really long time.

    the point is area denial :stuck_out_tongue: but maybe put 3 shots on the mine to detonate it

    Hm, I'd like it a bit simpler and just be a Semtex, but who knows.
    Anyway, this actually is a good idea.

    Just bumping back to the top of the page because this idea is +5/0/-0 and should be considered by coders

    I guess it's a +1 from me. It seems very unique and a worthy item to be bought for money. I like the off/on state of the redstone torch.

    and having one of my textures in the default war resourcepack would be killer
