Help

The only issue I have had with ping was caused by something I downloaded. I uninstalled it and everything went back to normal. Did you download anything around the time the ping issues started?

 

I have a pretty high ping when I keep a ton of programs running at the same time. Nowadays, I try to keep only 2-3 programs up at a time, and I usually stay at around 20-25 ms.

 

If its your not programs, it may just be your internet. (Its what i have been told) i usually don't get bad ping, so i really cant help you that much.

Your Minecraft has nothing to do with your ping. Ping is sending information from point A (You) to point B (server) and back again. If you have family members trying to send a lot of information to point C (Another server) then that could harm your ping. Also you could have issues with your ISP (People who control your internet) call them or have your parents do it if it is happening to everyone. Make sure you are close to the router.

 

It is most likely an issue with your ISP. I don't think that your family using the majority of the bandwidth would raise your ping up to 2000.

I used to lag somewhat and then one day my dad got really mad at me for a personal reason and he deleted all my games and everything. I did a system restore and that just deleted more files so I undid that and downloaded my games all over. My speed became 5x faster.

 

Idk, im having the same lag issue, I always have 100+ to 1000+ ms I do have a other operatong system instead of Windows or Mac, I run on Linux. Im not sure if Linux is the problem, I dont think it is, but I also need advice on how to make my WiFi faster, Ive restarted my router multiple times, and Im the only one that uses the internet at my house, I have also check if anyone is randomly connected, and the Only device Is my laptop...

 

Adding what to Pnspi said, Ping is based on your location. I am in the US, and when I am on a server in the US my ping averages from 20 to 80. If I attempted to play on a EU server, mine can range from 50 - 950. Ping may not be obvious, and on your screen it can look fine. But to others it may appear you are teleporting, flying, or cheating.

This may also be caused by the amount of stress the server goes through depending on how many players are on, if you're playing on war-1 where theres usually 50-70 folk, it going to be a bit laggier than if you were playing with 10 or 20 people. Because the server has so many players on with such varying connections it strains itself to let everyone in without dropping or lagging to hell and back in a new-york minute.
