Well, I don't think we would restart the server because of 1 person. Also if only you are lagging and no one else in the server is, probably it's a problem with your connection. Try reconnecting or restarting your internet.

60-75FPS = Max FPS. 100 is to bad for you? Too bad. You can't get more than 75.

I sometimes get about 300-400 fps..
In minecraft, there are several types of lag. The most common ones are server, Fps and Internet. Fps lag is when your fps is slower than usual. This is usually caused by having many entities, running many backround programs, especially video editing software, recording videos of the game or the generation of new chunks, especially in an amplified map. Server lag is lag where server side things don't work as well as they should, such as commands not doing anything, the guns not shooting and blocks reappearing after they are mined. Internet lag is usually caused by your Internet, most commonly by heavy usage. Some of the most Internet-intensive things are Skype, video watching in high resolutions, and livestreaming/watching streams. This is the easiest one of three types to fix. Often it just requires you to restart your Internet, or exit other Internet using software you have.

You can have 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 FPS, but your screen monitor's refresh rate will never go higher than 144. And the FPS can't actually bypass the refresh rate. FPS=Frames Per Second. And you can't get more frames a second than your screen can refresh. Easy as that. But if you actually had a monitor that had 500 refresh rate, you would get 500 FPS.

This is pointless. Staff members aren't going to restart the server just because of one person @tippertopper . If you are having lag, restart your internet/computer. Or, deal with it.

I get 500 fps, but I only see 60. If you have vsync off, you can get as many fps as your internal hardware allows. And I've seen monitors with higher refresh rates than 144 Hz.

The topic of this thread is not how much fps you can get. If you have more than 24 fps, your minecraft is running faster than the human eye can detect. Get back on topic please.

As Mark Twain said: "Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience."
    I'll stop arguing.

First off this is a problem with your connection. If it really is a problem, 8 GB of ram is fine for minecraft, but you might want to look into your GPU and CPU to help speed it up. Also, I will say I have friends who play and say that 20 FPS is a good day, so you should be complaining.

Another thing, the human eye runs at 29.97 "frames" per second. It is hard to tell the difference between 30 and 40, and anything over 50 is the same. You literally cannot tell the difference between 50 and 250. Maybe a slight difference, but it is not humanly possible to have that much of a major difference.

Also, were you recording when this happened? If you are, make sure you are writing to a different drive than minecraft is running on. For example, if you run minecraft on C: then you would record on D: or E: , anything but the C drive.

I run at 80 or so fps but at the moment its 10-20 so I'm just on the forums.
@tippertopper if no one else is complaining of lag then it is probably just your computer.
