    Not entirely useless, you need dirt to grow grass, you need grass for trees, and you need trees to even do anything in minecraft. :V

    But what if you give them the dirt block that can never turn into grass? :V

    There is one dirt block that you cannot grow grass on, no matter what. It's an unlegit block, and can only be given through /give or cheats. :l
    I'm not talking about podzol.
