I thought about this idea as a court case. So ban appeals would only be viewed by staff members but I think us forum members should also decide the fate of a banned player. Ban appeals would be put in the same format but in this idea, the appeal is public so a poll must be made in the appeal. If many people think the person should be unbanned, then the admins will decide using the information from the forum members who read the appeal. However, it all depends on the person, the crime, and the appeal. Constructive criticism must be used in the appeal exactly like a mod application. The player will not be unbanned if his/her application does not have:

    1) An appropiate poll
    2) Detailed and adequate answers
    3) The right appeal format
    4) An honest answer which means no lies
    5) Decent grammar
    6) The reason of the ban

These factors are also used to determine the fact of the banned player:

    - Forums and Teamspeak activity
    - Server, forums, and TS maturity
    - Age

For an advertiser, an unban is more likely to be issued because advertisers are easy to catch but players using hacked clients are less likely to be unbanned.

Interesting... I will have to think about this before I vote yes or no. This has it's pros and cons.

I do like the idea of viewing a ban appeal. However, the con is that a forumer might be biased though. But if we're allowed to judge apps, than why not ban appeals? The pros I think outweigh the cons, so I think this would be a good idea. There is one thing I disagree about. I think that if someone is banned for advertising, they'll be less likely to be unbanned than for hacking. My reason? If someone advertises and another player joins their server, the owner could get the player's ip and ddos him/her. This, is why I think that a ban for advertising would be worse than a hacked client considering ddos is a major crime compared to hacks.

P.S. Weren't you allowed to view a ban appeal if you were a guest on the old forums?

Off Topic: This post is my 2014th! The same as this year!

they use to have this but the people go so beat up when making them they had no real fair trial. on the forums back then it was guilty until proven innocent..... that's why the made them private.

If there is to be this kind of a trial, only the most respected and mature members on the forums can be part of the committee otherwise were going to have riots and lots of people arguing. I suggest having 5 members participating per " trial ". Of course this is to be taken seriously

I don't particularly like this idea. I think the decision is best left to the admins.

The person who banned them should have exclusive rights to deciding their fate.

I don't see why they need to be active on TS3 for an unban.
Many players don't know of it/prefer Skype over it.

These are terrible factors for unbanning someone.

I must say, this seems pointless to be honest. People will use this as a 'Post faming' recourse to gain posts, just like some do with Mod Applications currently. As already said "Best left for the admins".

    This is what bothers me.
The idea seems pointless because many do not effectively criticize people.

It is an interesting idea, but quite honestly in the end the decision is made by the admins and I do not think that the community needs to have a say in it for many of the reasons my peers have already given.

I say no just because ban appeals can include personal information, say you were declined for a charge-back then you would have to explain your credit card scenario and that's just too personal for random people to be reading.

This is pretty much how every ban appeal goes,

At least I understand how appeals are judged by the staff now. Thank you Putty.

    I agree completely with GreenPeas.
Ban appeals have been left private for a reason, and it's doubtful this will ever be changed.

I don't want ban appeals to be public to all users but it would be nice if staff could help decide if the player THEY BAN can be unban.

I wouldn't like the ban appeals to be public. Many people could be biased or just say " DON'T UNBAN HIM" so the person that might have had a chance at an appeal will get knocked down because of some trolls.
