I have come up with an idea to help stop gravedigging. If somebody can code into the fourm an automatic lock to a thread.
This lock would only go into effect if the thread has not had any replys in maybe a month or 2 weeks. That way, noobs or spammers who just want to get their post count up cannot reply to old threads. This would not prevent members from seeing the thread, just replying. Threads that would not include this would be: resource pack releases, guides, and update logs

Good idea. But when would it be locked? I know you said 2 weeks or one month, but all threads are different. Threads can be resolved very quickly sometimes. I guess this would not affect all threads effectively. Because this would not cover all the gravedigging issues, I do not think that this is worth the time put into coding it. This is a good start, but it needs to be a little more thought through.

How about only certain sections don't get an auto lock? I don't think texture pack release threads should get auto-locked since you can't gravedig it.

    That would make sense.
The resolved threads would have no effect with this, it's just most threads that aren't resource pack releases or guides that have not been resolved could still be gravedug.

Sounds good but I don't see how it can be done.
Theres nothing more irritating than gravediggers. (Maybe spammers)

I guess if it is resolved then it could be locked by a mod anyways.
    Then find one. :V

It's a nice idea you got here, but if I am honest, I don't think it is necessary. We have plenty of moderators on-hand to lock threads if necessary, doing this automatically is just taking another job away from mods, which is not want we want.

I agree, I don't think we need it lots of Moderators scroll through the forums and sometimes people can tell the Moderators to checkout threads that are not important so I agree with @GreenPeas_

It won't help any. If someone want more posts, they can reply to a new thread as much as a old.

What about this: "People stop gravedigging for common sense"

Gravedigging is bad, but there are some things mods are told not to lock. Example: Bugs that haven't been fixed, Ideas, Clans and some more stuff.
Also there are some limitations. We would need to find a plug in for the forums which does this, and it can be hard to use...

Wait, what if it's a bug report and no one really goes there to post and it'd be locked and someone would think it's fixed but it's not...?
Yeah too many possible problems with this idea unless the automatic lock would not lock in Bug Reports/Staff Applications..

If we get the plugin it'll be custom so we won't have a problem configuring it.

It locks 2 weeks or one month after everyone is done posting on it. If people keep posting, then the timer will reset. Once people stop, it will lock.

I don't know. It would have to void somethings like pinned items. Because new people post on pinned topics like tutorials every two weeks or so.

As people are continuing to comment stuff like what Venom has just added, it just seems as if it would be much easier just to leave it as the way it is now, leave it to staff.
