[[Sugestion]] Ban Staff Applications

How about a like-to-dislike ratio?
If you had a LTD ratio above x.xx, you would be able to apply for moderator.

 

Too low :v
That means someone could have 45 likes and 10 dislikes, which is pretty easy to get. How about a 15.0 LTD ratio?

Just kidding. We've talked about this, but we still don't have a web developer to code XF for us. Maybe in the future.

 

If we use this method, a user could go and dislike all of another users posts to insure he never gets Moderator.

Situation:

Chickenputty works hard to become a Moderator.
(Random User) holds a grudge against Chickenputty, and knows he want to become Moderator.
(Random User) goes to Chickenputty's profile and dislikes all of his posts.
Chickenputty's chances for Moderator are gone.


As GreySwordz said, we do not currently have a website dev to do any changes like this. Maybe in the future, something along these lines will be implemented.

 

How about once we get a web dev, a person has to be "nominated" by two or more people if they want to make an app. Then maybe you have to have a certain amount of positive ratings to be nominated. Two or more people would kind of be a fail-safe i case the person has an alt.

 

It might be added soon, until then, I'll do my job.

 

I'm not a fan of the later suggestion of the LTD ratio, enabling staff applications, as it just wouldn't be functional. Anyone can dislike people posts, even if they don't deserve a dislike.
Now on to the post topic, restricting staff applications:
I think the best & fairest way to do this is set a kind of limit on posting in the Staff Applications forum.
100 post minimum for commenting on applications - As by this amount of posts, players are beginning to become somewhat active on the forums, and you can't just get people on other accounts +1'ing etc. Also by adding this, players can't just rack up posts by commenting on every staff application they see.
300 post minimum for starting a thread (posting an application) in the forum. By this post count, players are active forum members and will have a reasonable knowledge of whats going on with the server.

Then again, it's all good saying this, but without a Web Developer, none of this can become a reality. :V

 

Meh, I have like 5 alts I have access to.

 

Certain people (E.G. Kcl279) have hundreds of cracked accounts, so this wouldn't be alt-proof.

 

Like-dislike-ratio means that 4 or 5 mods would get demoted. I'd say this-go positive, just best number, because otherwise, there might be these friendly people with haters and what not. And a kid from TRA was spamming dislikes for me like 20-40 times. That was while ago, I do positive now, but it should be 1.0+

Not this, we already have people who'd get demoted for loss of ratio. Only positive, otherwise, the idea is gonna ruin our chances for having talented people as mods.

 

How about to nominate someone, you have to have a certain amount of posts and/or positive ratings. I don't know any amount for posts and ratings so if it is considered then the staff can decide.

Anyways, all they need to do is make it so that members with 250+ are able to apply. If they have less than that, they won't be able to post a thread in the section. However, they could view the applications, and post comments. Just not a thread.

 

But some players have extremely good apps, E.g Ole's WarZ app got accepted and he had 18 posts, I mean come on, give people a chance if they post an app it does not harm you, you bother to look at it.

Plus, good app's like those RARELY come around.

 

If we used this method, I would be very likely to get promoted.
