    Hi Guys,
Recently as you may know, a few people's minecraft account have been hacked. This could have happened for 1 of 2 reasons.
    1. You have a classic minecraft account where your login username is your IGN.
These are very easy to crack as people can use a password generator based on your username and just log in. The way to solve this is to migrate your minecraft account over into a mojang account so your login is your email address. This is a simple process but unfortunately, I do not have a classic account to demonstrate that on so I cannot guide that here.

The second way can help your minecraft account from being hacked if you choose not to migrate your account, you will simply just have to change your password.

    2. The second way your account can be hacked is by an obvious password.
    For example:
If your minecraft username is JohnSmith1999 and you make your password JohnS99, a password generator can easily generate that as a possibility and your account can easily be hacked.

Here I will show you how to change your password to what I would recommend, "A Stronger one"

First what you want to do is go to minecraft.net and click on login as shown below
    [IMG]
Then You want to click profile and it will bring you to the following page
    [IMG]
You will now want to click on "go to your Mojang account settings page" Which will then bring you to the following page. (NOTE: This only applies to those with a Mojang account. Not a Classic account.)
Once you arrive to this page as shown above, click on the thing that says "View Account settings" and it will redirect you to the page as shown below.
The page as shown above, gives you all the information that you supplied when you first registered for minecraft. Click on the 'Edit' tab next to the password row. (NOTE: I have blocked out all my personal information as that is private)
After clicking the 'Edit' Tab on the password row, it will open this window on the same webpage. You will now want to enter a new password and repeat it for security.
I suggest making the password long (Over a 10 letter, number and symbol combination.)
I Strongly suggest making your new password have nothing to do with the name in your minecraft account, as that is how people hack accounts.
After entering your new password twice, enter the old one on the bottom-most box and click save.
Your minecraft account has now changed it's password and you should be safe from hackers.

I hope this guide helped any of you who were confused.

Even this wont help all the time.
You guys have to change your e-mail password too. (If your "friend" is hacking you because some people just do this too)

    Great guide!
Also, be sure to have your account info written down somewhere safe, just in case you happen to forget the email or password you have on your Mojang.
(This is mainly for any type of account on any site you may have.)

Wow, this is a very helpful guide; wish I could rate it as useful. I think they should sticky this thread.

P.S. I already had my account migrated so many months ago. (Back when they first implemented the migration system).

I am sincerely sorry for accusing you joey, and if Im still wrong, well okay then. Gynamo was like oh yeah joey hates me he definitely hacked me or got kcl to do it. Great guide, although when I try migrating I get stuck in a circle. It sucks, but I'll figure it out. Also @GreySwordz you shouldn't have said how many characters you used, that probably people that want to hack you. I highly recommend that you change it and that hopefully that was a lie and it's something else.

    52 characters (uppercase lowercase) ^ 21 = 1.08660129011E36 possible combinations
Not hackable through conventional means, still vulnerable to social engineering.

It's ok, it was just a misunderstanding and everyone makes mistakes, including myself.
