Killcam now possible?

    As you know, in the upcoming 1.8 release, a new feature called spectator mode allows players to become invisible, and also view the game from another player's point of view. However, while in this mode, you can't interact with the enviroment, you don't have an inventory, and you can pass through entities. This future addition may make it possible to add a killcam feature, and a spectator mode in MC-War.

    It can show other players point of view at the current moment, but I don't know if it can show something that already happened...

    Well, as Ender said, it won't show things that have happened. On other servers though, it is possible. It is a little glitchy though.

    I hope it works like that... That'd make MC-WAR so much more like COD. Also, you could see the hackers in action. As well as the 360 no-scope isolator headshot from across the map in the final kill-cam. I hope it gets added :wink:

    I don't think it would be possible even in 1.8 but if they continue to work on this then perhaps yes. We can only hope!

    Kill cams and other things were mentioned before and they were denied because its almost impossible to code.

    This doesn't change anything. We could implement spectating mode more easily, but to do kill plans you still need tons of data.

    It would have to show the player's point of view in present time. Killcams would have to add a respawn time which mcwar doesnt have. Up for debate.

    I guess killcams won't be a reasonable idea, but the spectating mode can still be implemented. And, like Flub888 said, catching hackers can be much easier.

    I think this would be cool but I also think that spectating mode would be better.
    Imagine how many more hackers would be caught if there were people flying around watching.
    Good idea though :grinning:

    This would be good for spectator mode and for staff members, but not for kill cams. As Grey said, it would take up a lot of data to do that.

    Since this spectating is possible, it would be VERY helpful to mods. It would be very helpful because you could keep an eye on glitchers, to know if they are performing an action on accident, or on purpose. It can also help to see how people get OOM, as for finding if it is a map bug, or spider hacks.
    Now for players, until this gets developed enough to be able to replay segments of time, it really can not be used for a killcam. However, it can be used for spectating. First off before we even try to implement this, we have to see how it works.

    He said that they might be possible to add once 1.8 comes out. According to him, spectator mode will be added that allows you to view another player's POV. But as Ender said, it still might not be possible because you can't view something that's happened in the past.

    If I am right, this is possible to make in the current version of Minecraft. Combination of /vanish, instant TP to killer, and no perms to interact with world. But yes, it would be much easier to make with the all new 'Spectator Mode'.
