Depends on what you're using it for. I'm no expert on OS's but Linux has an open source code, when windows doesn't. So if you're using it to edit or take advantage of the source code, you should get it. That's the main difference, otherwise I would stay with windows just because it's more popular so people make more things for windows. My personal opinion anyway.

Linux is faster, more versatile, and uses a better written filesystem. It also has the advantage of being free and open-source. However, I wouldn't recommend Linux unless you're an expert on computers.

    Try Debian Linux today!

Actually, Linux has just as many applications as Windows. Have you seen the apt-get package list? Or even just look on Sourceforge.

    Even Valve supports Linux.

The Linux OS takes up much less RAM than windows, so faster games.

Most games aren't ported to Linux. Dual boot if anything.

    Forgot to mention this.
Linux has some nice, free, recording/editing software. Minecraft is one of the few games that supports windows and Linux, however, so if you're going to play anything else, dual booting is necessary.

I have a dual boot with Gnome 3, Windows 7. Gnome for work, windows for play, works like a charm.

If you had 0 bytes of space, your computer wouldn't be able to do, like, anything, because you can't download stuff. v:

This is why I prefer Linux, it's way less buggy and way more stable. (that's why most servers/supercomputers use Linux).
