This was actually an idea for quite a bit, and I thought I might voice everyone else who supports this idea by making this thread.
In moderator applications, when the Like-Neutral-Dislike system was added, they were added to moderator applications to judge them. You could put a like for a +1, a neutral for a +0, and a dislike for a -1. I believe this is too harsh. We shouldn't make them think that we dislike their thread, but that we voted -1 for a reason. Instead of the current system of ratings, plus the grammar rating, I think we should have 3 main ratings total for staff applications only. This means the thread only, not any comments. These ratings are as such:
    • +1 - You think this person is qualified to be mod. Need I say more?
    • +0 - You are neutral on this application, and are not sure.
    • -1 - You believe this person is not qualified to be a mod. 'Nuff said.
I have removed the grammar rating because it technically fits under -1 or -1/2. Here's how they will add up.
+1's will give you a positive rating.
+0's and -1's will give you a neutral rating. This is because these ratings are based on your opinion. You may think that the application/the applicant is bad, but this is purely your opinion, and for all you know, other people may think differently.
There could also be a new system for an average, mod applications only. It could show whether the majority wants him as a mod, or not.
The dislikes and negative ratings are scaring new forum members away, which is not what we want. We want to aim to be friendly, not to be a bad community.
Seem good? Got something to add? Post it in the comments below.

We will need symbols for these new ratings, so I guess I could whip some up quickly. Or you guys can make them.

Hmm, I can see both positives & negatives from this suggestion.
Obviously, I can imagine some players will like to know every detail of how they could improve.
Then again, +1/2 & -1/2, is that not going into slightly too much unnecessary detail? The comments that follow the rating will still be similar - You can change the ratings but you can't change the communities opinions.

This would make it easier for people to use alternate accounts/friends to +1 their application since ratings on posts, besides profile posts, don't show who rated what.

Why not have an average instead of a ratio?

I initially wasn't sure about the 1/2 ratings. I think I'll remove those, doesn't seem too necessary when you think about it.
Hm... I'll take this into consideration. (adding it v: )

Seems interesting. I have seen so many dislikes on mod apps, I do not even want to press that thing anymore.

Well maybe new forum members apps should be in a different section so only the admins can review it and tell them what they must do

It would be easier for beginners to grasp. I like it!
