    First off, I know that this has been suggested before, and this is my personal take on how the Riot Shield were to work if it were implemented.

    The riot shield, as you may know, is an item found in some CoD games, and it is a shield that provides (Temporary) invulnerability. After being shot enough, the shield will break.

    Here's how it works: Firstly, the shield cannot be bought in game, it can only be attained via a system that is also not implemented yet, or by the donor shop. The Riot Shield is awarded to only forum members who have a certain number of points (24 seems like a good number). This lets only a select few access/use it.

    Now, for in the game, the shield replaces your Melee weapon, i.e. Knife / Superknife. When equipped In-game, the Riot Shield is shown as a re-textured iron door on the back of the player. The two parts of the door are not actual blocks, but falling sand entities with item ID's to make them look like iron door parts (This is to prevent OOMing because the entities cannot be stood on. When held in the hand, the Riot Shield moves to the side of the player. When right-clicked, it will place itself down one block in front of the player, and the player is unable to move or switch items. The player is only able to move again when they right-click with the shield again, and that also removes the shield When it is placed down, an invisible mob (i.e. Creeper) that is 2x1x1 is placed in front of the Riot Shield. This mob has a certain amount of health, and when it dies, the riot shield breaks. Note that this means the shield only protects your front. You can turn, and the shield will turn with you.

    The shield can of course also be used as a melee weapon, and does the same damage as a knife, but gives you mining fatigue so that you cannot hit quickly, for realism and to de-buff it.

    85% of conventional (bullet as well as Xbow & Demolisher) damage is blocked, but most other types of damage are entirely blocked, i.e. Grenades, if they land in front of the user while the shield is deployed, it will do no damage. Likewise with Molotovs, Flashbangs, and Tomahawks. However, all of these do still damage the shield, and eventually it will break.

    I never suggested this before. Don't make assumptions.
    On-topic: I don't think that this should be strictly limited to forum members, rather it should be a donor item or a killstreak. Also, I don't think plugins can manipulate tile entities around the player in such a manner.

    Well, as long as you can't move and it has a certain durability, it's good with me. The only thing I would have to disagree about would having to be a forum member with 24 points. Honestly, there should be another way to acquire the riot shield without there being a ton of people using it.

    1st Option
    It could be an unlockable that you would get with extremely high stats. This would make the riot shield as being a unique unlockable than along with not as many people running around with it. I'm thinking of:

    • Lvl 65+
    • 40k kills
    • 3+ KDR
    2nd Option
    It could be a donor equipment as @griffy718 said. With the riot shield as a donor option, it might even solve the problem of spawnkilling. However, this equipment would have to have a medium durability (I would suggest a max of 4 iso shots) and non-mobility for a player (as you said) to balance the riot shield out. 4 iso shots sounds like a long durability, but just imagine how fast the skullcrusher could wear the durability out. Or as many players use, the python which could wear out the durability in nearly a full clip. This could be $4 on the donor shop.

    P.S. The riot shield shouldn't replace your combat knife because not that many people use a knife to kill someone. I'm thinking it should replace your primary.

    As said, the mob that acts as a shield can have a chosen health. 4 iso shots is probably good, and that means that weaker weapons would take a bit more time to break it. If it were to replace your primary, it wouldn't be very useful.

    Just for all of you interested, we cannot lock forum ideas unless they are exactly the same. Seeing as how many people have the same ideas, but they work differently, means they are new ideas. Therefore, we cannot lock them.

    On Topic: This idea seems fairly complicated. This would confuse many players, especially without the texture pack. Also, with an iron door, the iron door faces the 90 degrees of the square block. This means it cannot face corners of blocks due to it only being able to be placed on the side of blocks. If you wanted to turn the sheild, you would have to turn a full 90 degrees. Therefore, I'm not sure how useful it would be. I remain neutral on the idea.

    i have suggested this idea before and having it instead of your knife is to OP because then u get a primary a secondary and an OP riot shield no balance and it is unfair. Also mining fatigue is ok i guess but if u want to get more ideas go look at my post this has been done many times in the past.
    Bad idea the same damage as a knife but u get mining fatigue at least give the person mining fatigue and it is able to one shot. One shot was used for COD and having it with the same damage as knife is stupid u barely even get a chance to hit the guy before u die.

    wow 3+ kdr that means most people will not get it or they will have to spend a year to get there kdr high enough to unlock it AKA me with a 1.05 kdr and this will be hard since people love to use raygun

    That's basically how it was to work (it would work best in narrow areas where you can't be flanked)

    Yup, that's why. And also, I consider myself an average forum member, and getting 24 points isn't too hard if you're a dedicated member.

    My idea is almost entirely different from yours, therefore I created my own thread.

    It's hard to tell what you mean, and I take it English is not your first language. I have deciphered your post as best as I can.

    I meant that it does the same damage as a regular knife.
    Mining fatigue, in case you didn't know, causes you to hit slower.

    Define "Deployable". The Riot Shield is placed down and is only then active (Can only block bullets then)

    English is my only language and if u can read i said having it do reg knife damage with mining fatigue makes it impossible to kill them

    I, uhh, don't entirely see your point. At one point you're saying that it's too OP because it replaces only your knife, but then you're saying it'd be too hard to kill someone. That evens out the Riot Shield, so it is neither overpowered nor underpowered. Please state your point more clearly. And try to use proper grammar and spelling. Thanks.

    first of all it is to OP because u can switch to your primary at any time at least let the guy keep the knife and make the shield a primary and second of all don't comment on someones grammar it is the ****ing internet things are supposed to be wrong.

    I'd like you to use proper grammar so that you convey your point more easily without me having to re-read your post five times and make a guess at what you meant.
    Would you need to have all of these at once? If so, what if your KDR drops below 3.0?
    If not, it would be possible for you to get it if you got your first three kills without dying.

    That's why I gave two options. People can decide on which option they want to go with, the special unlockable option, or the donor option. :meh:
    Yeah, I was just thinking about that after I made the post, but I had to get ready for bed before I could edit it. I was thinking it should replace either the secondary or the knife slot as than the riot shield would be more useful.
