It should be more like
"This thread is over 1 month old. Do not post unless necessary."

But just a reminder to the poster.

 

Good idea, would save a lot of members a lot of hate.

 

We'll it should come up as a warning saying: warning: this thread is over ( time ) old, Do not post on it for it is against the rules to do so

You can always go on xenforo and make a post under suggestions, it would probably be a good idea to ask putty since he handles these types of things.

I love this idea! Especially because I don't know how long the thread has to be dead to be considered 'grave-digging'. I think this should be added.

 

I meant I wasn't sure if they had that add on.. Obviously it's not apart of our current forum software

Is there a way for let's say a bot to lock it after <time> ? Maybe add it in certains threads which gravedig is not allowed

Add the options to have the OP to click a button in the draft post which gives the right to lock it if there is inactivity for <time>.

I thought about this, but, there is always a chance that someone in a week will respond.


Here is a scenario.

Putty has published his poem in the forums. He adds the "auto lock" feature and sets it to 30 days. People comment on it every day, but when the 30th day comes, it will automatically be locked. There is no gravedigging here, but the problem was it auto locked. Maybe we should do where the last post will have a timer, lets say 30 days. If someone responds on the 27th day, that timer will move to the replier. If no one responds in 30 days, it will lock itself. Can you imagine how many criticize will be received if we auto locked it after 30 days of OP post?

I personally like this way better. Simply because it prevents grave digging completely, so we don't have to worry about them at all. But I do agree that something should be added to help prevent them.
