Idea Three Ideas For The New Server

    With the new server being released soon, I have some ideas to go along with it. I thought we might as well have some new features as well as the new map. I have three different ideas that I think will make the server more realistic to DayZ, more fun, and easier to live.

    First, there needs to be some kind of item, preferably a helmet, that can block a compass from detecting you. When you get to the Nether and Snow, all fights rely on the compass. If someone doesn't have a compass, there as good as dead. However, if there was a camo helmet that blocked you from being detected, or blocked you from being detected until you're withing a closer distance, it would make fights a lot more interesting. My idea would be to use a chainmail helmet with unbreaking so it wouldn't break so quickly. The camo helmet should be less common than iron, but more common than diamond.

    Second, tents need to be improved. I have never found a tent on any server, but have found several tier four weapons and pieces of diamond armor. Also, when you find a tent, it gets destroyed after the server resets. Tents could simply be removed after 3-5 minutes of not having any items in the chests. Right now, there is no way for a non-donor to bank any items. With tents, players can hide items and store them wherever. Finally, a key of sorts should be implemented where only players with keys can open the chests in the tent. The key would also be more common than the tent.

    Third, handcuffs need to be brought onto the server. As a true hero, I never kill another hero unless I am being attacked. Even when I am being attacked, I hate to kill that hero because of how much it drops my humanity. If we had handcuffs, heros, and bandits, could handcuff players that they didn't want to kill or just wanted to hold captive. The handcuffs would give the players slowness (Hopefully a level so high the player can't even move) for a few minutes. This would allow the player to escape. You would just hit someone with the handcuffs to apply it to them. They could wear down over time, the more you use them, and eventually break. Players that are handcuffed can still be attacked also.

    If you agree with my suggestions, please tell me below to help them get into the server. If you disagree with my suggestions, please tell me what should be different in my idea, or why we shouldn't implement the idea in general. I would love to see these ideas in game, and you can help make my ideas better or show me why the ideas aren't good. Thanks!

    First thoughts:

    Idea #1:

    - Ehhhh, sounds a little OP, as, like you said, you are dead without a compass...
    - If added, I think it should be rarer than d
    - I like the idea of chain as the helmet

    Overall: -1, however, if it is tweaked so that it doesn't render compasses completely useless, I'll probably give it a +1

    Idea #2:

    - I think they are more common then you think, I find them more commonly than d
    - Yes, they should last longer imo
    - I think that you should be able to loot other's tents, as then it makes people want to buy MVP to keep their stuff 100% safe

    Overall: +1

    Idea #3

    - Sounds way to OP, because honestly, not being able to move for 1+ minutes?! You are as good as dead!
    - Possible tweak: Instead of immobilizing them, combat tag them so in a way they are "Locked in combat" and have it last for 5 minutes. Also, give them slowness so you can possibly get away (if you want). But make it possible that they can get away from bangs, mollies, and nades)

    Overall: With the tweak I suggested, I think this is a possible implement. +0

    1. The helmet should be significantly weaker, like a leather helmet which does very little damage reduction.

    2. I do not get the idea with the tents as well. But I do relate to the reason why they end quicker than I would like them to.

    3. The handcuffs seems like the easy way out from dying too. If someone is chasing you, the easy way out without dying would be to just give them slowness and run away.

    Thanks for the replies and also the constructive criticism! It really helps my ideas. I'll revise them now:

    1) The helmet should be rarer than diamond helemets, because I now see how op that is. A different aspect could be that you would still appear on the compass , just in half of the range of a player without a camo helmet.

    2) I guess I just have bad luck with finding tents. However, they are currently pointless Parkman1221. Why would I bank my items in a completely unsafe area that will just stay there for the length of 1 reset?

    3) Think about the handcuffs in the newest version of DayZ. When a player is handcuffed, they can't move at all until they wiggle out of it. They also can't use any weapons. Maybe to handcuff a player, that player can't be in motion? Finally, the handcuffs should only be found in the prison and in military airfields

    The helmet is a little op, I like the other ideas though.

    Well, there are many items that are OP in WarZ, I think it is balanced enough..
    Perhaps the helmet could give you Weakness I?

    Either that or it's as rare as a a Golden Apple or perhaps Mountain Dew.

    Honestly, the compass is really OP. So if the compass is OP, why not make another OP object, that's quite rare, to disable it.

    The nerfed version of the helmet seems actually quite nice. Cut the range on detecting you, and being just as rare as Mountain Dew and Golden Apples. Weakness could be added, or the durability of the helmet be depleted quicker than normal.
    Tents would be interesting, with the key and such needed for it. That would be a good idea.
    Handcuffs would eventually never be used. Most would merely kill the person, hero or not. If it was to be implemented, what was said would be a good idea.

    Idea 2 about tents, I have like 3 on each server. They do not reset after the reset, you can loot them, they've been looted before. They're not OP, and anyone can take them by destroying the chest. Should there be a update to the tents? Yes. I'd like them to be there and "unpickupable" unless you use a hatchet, so my tent location on server 4 doesn't get raided every hour =.=
