    Hey Guys,
    Tuggers03 Here,

Today I have another little idea for a more realistic sniper scope.
Now, before I get into explaining it I would just like to add this would be for sniper rifles only.

Now, the basic idea of this is that when a player using a sniper rifle zoom, a pumpkin will be placed on top of their head. (Pumpkin can be re-textured to whatever. :stuck_out_tongue:)

If someone was not using the resource pack it would show up funny. So, every now or then, when you zoom in (Not every time) you would get a message saying, "Scope texture looking funny? Download the resource pack to fix it!" (Tails13's idea)

So, almost everyone knows that when you put a pumpkin on your head you get something like this:

This would be changed to an actual sniper scope, something like this:

    (Taken from the McWar client)

This would make it so that when a player is sniping, they would get a more realistic experience.
    - A better scope
    - Limited FOV when sniping
    - Less defense (No helmet) when sniping.
All the things listed above would make it a lot more realistic.

Why this is a good idea:

    • More Realistic (Reasons listed above)
    • Shouldn't be hard to code
    • An actual scope when zoomed in.
    • Would be fun :grinning:

So, that is my idea. Please leave some feedback down below. Constructive Criticism welcome!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

This is not possible with ordinary resource packs as when you scope, you just get a slowness effect.

This has been suggested before, but with the new versions of Minecraft almost anything is possible

Thanks for informing me it had been suggested before. But yes, almost anything is possible with the newer versions of Minecraft.

This is impossible with just a resource pack alone.

No offense, but that would be impossible, for two reasons.
One, there is no way to code or paint very easily a resource pack that would do this.
Two, the only way that this would be possible besides from coding mc-war to have this task would to be change the GUI to have a scope, permanently.

So yea... My only uncertainty would be how to make a pumpkin look like a helmet to other players.

Yeah. The pumpkin would have to be retextured too.
I dunno though. Running at the enemy lines with a pumpkin on your head would be a very intimidating action. :stuck_out_tongue:

We all know the age old problem that if we put a pumpkin on everyone's head, players without the texture will be extremely confused.

How about a simple command, /texture, that you can enable to have a pumpkin on your head when you scope? The pumpkin packet would be sent only to you, so no worries about looking funny.

Hmm yes. And every now or then, when you scope with a sniper it could say, "Scope texture looking funny? Download the resource pack to fix it!"

That's why @phantamanta44 made a Mc-War/WarZ client. You can always use that.

But, since less people know about the client less people would have a proper scope.

    I don't need a scope when I am sniping :V
Also, there is going to be a zoom change in the update, as confirmed by #orange451.

Nice. How do you get those long shots then? :stuck_out_tongue:
Looking forward to that zoom change.
