I have to agree with you Onik, MC-War needs to be updated more. I'm a rather new player and I don't think I'll stop playing anytime soon. But, I remember watching a LP of MC-War on Youtube probably over 6 months ago now and it seems to not have changed much, and like you said hopefully they can do more community events. Don't get me wrong though anyone it's a great server and I know people are trying hard to keep it great.

Hopefully, when the update comes out, there will be more people on!

They mad like 1-2 showcase vids, then boom, dropped the server. It's a pretty competative game, and when you're starting out, you get killed alot, so it's hard to get good recordings.

I remember before I got Minecraft myself ASFjerome (Hacksource) and BajanCanadian recorded it a lot.
Also, I think Camping Rusher has played it too.

But it just, as you said, stopped. The advertising like stopped for War.

    Thread reply:

Teasing the community with the War update was a huge mistake. We were under the impression that the update was going to be out promptly after we leaked details about it. However, orange451 failed to fix one game breaking bug which was the horrid lag at the end of the match due to SQL saving. We have learned from that mistake and are no longer releasing any kind of server or even idea sneak peeks (if you've noticed).

The four new servers that we released were done by new coders: Party - Coder_Tim, now Phinary, PvP - killer_99 started, Phinary finished, THG - killer_99, and KitPvP - Myortvye. MC-War and WarZ were left for orange451 to upkeep and update.

McBrawl would definitely still exist today without MinecraftParty. MC-War and WarZ are still running around the same amount of people as they use to.

We were working during the days of downtime to get the servers back up. If we had to move again it would definitely be a smoother process. "Donators" were compensated in extra days in their ranks. There was no way we could do some kind of double exp since we never had a system like that.

I wish I could be up front and just state the outright facts about what we are currently doing, but we're just not at a point to do that. We are working and we are coding, I can promise you that. Keep in mind that War and WarZ have to be recoded/reworked to be compatible with 1.8 name changes. (Hint?)

We can't simply put a magical release date on everything. See how the last ETA ended up?
Party is so YouTube famous, or whatever, due to the fact that it's really easy just to jump on and record a quick video. Most Minecraft YouTuber's don't really do CoD like commentary needed for War, nor do they want to put time into leveling and all of that.

It's easier to say "find a coder" then it is to actually get an experienced Java coder. Most coders are already working on a project or are wanting to start their own project.

MC-War currently has 150 people online and it's 1:00 in the morning. Sorry, but I don't see it dropping to 20 players anytime soon. There will definitely be an update before that happens.

    ~~

I'm honestly wouldn't even be pleased by the answer above as a community member. It's all I can say to keep everyone calm (hard to phrase). I do everything I can do to keep advancing the Brawl community, however I am not a wizard coder. Forum updates, public relations, and small in-game additions is what I'm limited to.

Does that mean that all the servers are finished forever?

McWar isn't dying. It would have to have an extreme lack of players and a lack of donations for it to die. I just hope it doesn't die anytime soon.

Thank you chickenputty for your reply. I realy appriciate that you took your time to explain, what your were doing and as you can see the Forums/Website are awesome, McParty, PvP and KitPvP are going pretty well. But players are still unpleased with McWar and McWarZ because they were promised an "huge" update. In my opinion you probably have the wrong approach. You want to make an "huge" and awesome update, but this takes a lot of time. You should make small updates, they could be only a few bugfixes or small little things like a new gun, equipment, in-game features (like the shotable glass, explosive barrels?), there are over 1.000 ideas in the "Suggestions" section (just remember last years updates in summer). You should know, that seeing a "McWar Update 20.04.14 Changelog" makes a lot of people happy, even if it's only a few things (When new players see that there are weekly/monthly updates they are going to stay even longer!). This way you gain more time amd remove the pressure of releasing an huge update as soon as possible and you can work on the "recoding/revamping". Make everything step by step and when you get a "huge" thank you from the community.

And when you ask, why you need to do it. It's because you need to give the community something back as a "thank you", because they are the reason why McBrawl can still exsist and they want it to exsist even longer because they donated or dedicated time to it (Moderators, Map Makers, etc.). The donations are useless if the community doesn't see any progess. Yes, there was a host move but they are still unpleased because of the lack of content.

According the "dropping" player numbers: Yes, I think now that this is not going to be a problem any time soon, because there is still a good amount of "experienced" players, so new ones are more likely to join the server.

Not more, there are going to be thousands :grinning:

I am not mad about the update. I don't like how the communty is treated.

On the contrary, it's far easier to update in bulk rather than with small feature updates, because every time we update, we go through the tedious task of testing the update, removing bugs, shutting down all the servers, installing the plugin(s) 12 different times, restarting all the servers again, then attaching them back to BungeeCord. All this time, MC-War will be down, and potential players could be lost.

    What's your solution then?
You are a good developer. Everyone loves your mod. And do you see them asking about updates? Bagging for new features? No. Because you do it the right way: Step by step. Imagine you said: "Here is everything what I want this mod to have. Update is coming soon." Everyone would forget about your mod and you would probably stop developing it further because noone is interested in it. Luckily orange didn't give up! :grinning:

Look at the bigger server networks, they update everyhing the same "step by step" way, they have about 20 times more servers then McBrawl and manage to update a little miss-spelling in an inventory gui without downtime. Because they are doing it "step by step" (updating server by server, rooting players to other and when they need donwtime, they do an double-xp weekend or give everyone small xp-boosters and afterwards noone is mad about them for the downtime). But it's McBrawls choice: Do they want to be a big network and be able to compete against them and have players who love them? Or do they want to stay how they are? If so. You can ignore everything what I said. But don't forget one realy important thing: The community is not treated as it should be.

Like Putty said above, there is currently no way to implement a double-xp weekend as of now.

I really have no suggestions for the development of War, as I have no idea how the plugin is structured.

I agree. Back in the day, server one told me: Server is full! Sorry! Now we have lost a decent amount of playeds from different timezones, like, there is only about 50 people on server one at the most. We need to wait, we have done it for nine montgs so dar - here's to another nine months... :frowning:

@phantamanta44 you could be a mc war coder. You are great at coding the client. It will be more work but you can do it.
