Why MPS Isn't as Popular as it Could be...

    So...
    MPS usually has around 700-1,300 players on.
    Seems great, right?
    Yeah. Except when we look at ShotBow, they commonly have 3,500+, and usually 4,000.

    So what's the problem?
    How come they have more players, and therefore, more revenue than us?
    Let's take a look at their servers.

    Hunger Games. Meh.
    Hardcore Factions. Meh.
    But wait! All their other servers!
    Smash Bros, Bomberman, The Hidden, Annihilation!
    What do all these have in common?
    They're unique.

    "Oh, but MC-War is unique!"
    No, not really.
    There's probably hundreds of other servers with the same exact thing as us. Especially with the public release of many gun plugins and arena plugins on Dev.Bukkit. I could probably get a rudimentary MC-War server up and running within 2-3 hours.
    Granted, they might not be as refined, but they're there nonetheless, offering the same exact gameplay as us.

    So how do we get more players?
    Take after ShotBow.
    Get more unique servers.

    I mean 100% unique.
    Don't steal ShotBow's servers.

    Something I've already posted about...

    Crysis 3 Hunter gamemode.
    Unique, it hasn't been done, and it's pretty fun in my experience. Short, intense matches, allowing people to drop in and drop out, not requiring a dedication of hours upon hours.

    Another thing I really wanted to replicate, but is extremely complicated.
    Tribes: Ascend.
    Jetpacking, momentum, skiing, skill-based prediction of projectiles with inheritance.
    It's unique. It hasn't been done. Tribes: Ascend was just eff'd over by Hi-Rez, so all the comp players are looking for a new game. If we made an extremely good replica, with momentum and inheritance, we could very possibly have the next big thing on our hands.

    Of course, there's hundreds more ideas that haven't been done yet.
    And we need to capitalize on that.
    We need to be the first server network to do so and so.

    My goal for the Summer, actually, was to make a fully redstone reliant version of Hunter (lolfak learning java). We (Z7 and I) were almost done with the command block coding, and then boom, half of our wiring disappears. We gave up after that.

    They're not on that much. Putty daily, but still.
    When they are, they're usually handling things, and I don't want to disturb them with a ****ty idea.

    At least MPS is one of the most popular servers in Minecraft. I like mc-war , team-hg , and maybe minestrike so this server is really popular in my opinion :grinning:

    Other servers may have the same concept as War or WarZ, with the guns and all, but not near as good. ShotBow's take on zombie survival with guns in their newest server 'Wasted' or 'MineZ' are nowhere near up to par with WarZ. Still too many bugs and stuff.

    MPS is better quality, with a nicer community and great servers, but all it needs is more. Like Tac said, MPS needs to be more original. Although it's better quality, it's still the same in general terms. I honestly think that Zombies gamemode suggestion for MC War could be an entirely separate server. I haven't seen any others with that concept, or with guns, at least.

    You also have to consider HUGE you tubers(100k subs+) play on those servers, so they get those high amounts of people because of the revenue of youtube community. When they make a vid on there, everyone flocks to that server because it's fun. If a major you tuber came here, MPS wouldn't be able to support that overload. So it all comes down to pros and cons.(ps a lot of new players). The only major youtuber I know of who played MPS is SlyFox, and that is how I found this server. So win/lose really.

    u are hurting my soccer feeling buaaaaaaaaaaaa
    so the basic idea is to think about a nice game (for consoles) and a way to addapt it into MC
    we can simply addapt games like:
    metal gear rising
    just cause 2
    fifa
    rdr
    zombie u
    zelda?
    gta
    mortal kombat (I am planning a similar idea)
    mass effect
    etc...

    Zombies mode, hands down. We NEED a nazi zombies server. We already have the points system, the guns, and rankings. All we need is a zombies plugin to spawn X amount of zombies and be X strong, a random weapon gambler, perk machines(ps i know a serve that has pretty good perk machines coded), and maps(which can be found on planet minecraft easily). I would apply for mod on it in a heartbeat, and devote all my time to make sure it is fun and running smoothly.
