How in the world do you use Demolisher(aka Ray)?

For me, it is massively effective on Infect, I usually use other guns such as the Ak47 on tdm, capture the flag, freeforall.

 

Your gotta aim at there feet or something solid. Because other wise it is hard to hit. Also it has a lot of slash damage which is helpful in infect :V

Like jet said, shoot it at their feet or 1 or 2 blocks ahead of them which they are about to walk over. Overall ray is a really good gun in infect.

 

The ray is meant to pass through people, and since zombies has less health they die in 1 shot unlike other gamemodes where it takes 2. Since it's redstone particles and not snowballs it's mechanics are slightly different from normal guns since normal guns has to fly through the air at a certain set speed, unlike the ray that's instant. I would highly recommend aiming at the players, and not relaying on the splash damage since it's very small and deals less damage. Overall i would recommend you to use other guns such as the moddel, msr, famas or whatever suits you since ray is pretty ineffective in normal gamemodes. Also, keep in mind that you need a full block of air to fire it, you can't fire it over a half slab, a stair etc. If you need more help please feel free to send me a pm!

 

Just aim as far away as you can from your target. That's how you use it effectively.

I mainly use it for infect.
It sucks in Tdm!

 

The demolisher doesn't deal enough damage to kill in tdm or cft, however in infect zombies have less survivability that usual, so that's when it becomes effective. The splash radius is about 5 blocks, and it will usually insta-kill any zombies in that area. The reason it is so hard to get direct hits with is because of the nature of the shots. All the other guns fire separate entities, and those entities have hit boxes. Since the demolisher's only indication of bullet path is the redstone particles it leaves in its wake, you have to get a direct hit on the enemy's hitbox, which is smaller than you think.


The demolisher is not intended to be used outside of infect, frankly.

Try to aim at their feet, right before they come. The blast radius usually gets them

 

Well, as everyone stated the ray gun is most effective in infected.
It has a splash damage, which is probably most effective.
If it does go straight through a player, it may be because of lag.
Basically, you just have to learn the gun and how to use it.
Get a feel for it.
