As we all enjoy our lives today, spend a moment to remember the dday invasion and the sacrafices our greatest generation made to preserve our freedom. It is important to recognize their struggles on the beach. If anyone you know is a dday veteran, thank them for their service. The brave men made the ultimate sacrafice to save Nazi Occupied Europe. Their actions have spoken in many ways. For those who live in Europe amd especially in France, take a moment and honor these brave young men. Thank you to all of those brave soldiers who fought on The Normandy Beaches amd the airborne troops.

Remember, soviets who were allied to US, UK, Canada, murdered over 50k innocent people in my country.
To my country, germans were the ones who saved us from the communism regime. But then they lost. Just don't cheer up for USSR. As long as that won't happen, I can keep watching "Saving Private Ryan".

Probably the most or one of the most well-known battles in WW2 and throughout history.

He is saying that Germany saved his country from the communists, which they did. Now, it depends on your point of view if you believe that this was the lesser of two evils, but Germany did "save" a lot of countries from Russia's communistic grasp.

He died as the last eye witness to Blücher, 94 years old .-.
Some general was speaking on his funeral, I think it was his old general from like 70 years ago.

I got to, he is my grandfather on my mother's side.
I have more than one veteran in my family, look at this:
He on the right is my father in Chile, trying to save President Salvador Allende, 1973. He is wearing a AK-47 .-.

Well, not necassarilly. But it's cool that your grandfather was alive until a little while ago.
Both of my Great-grandfathers served in WW2, one as a doctor on an aircraft carrier, and the other as a Commander or some high-ranked person. But they both have passed away recently.

It's a shame my teacher did not learn us about WWII, and now we are moving to 8th grade. :|

Not depending on whether or not it's from mother's or father's side, everyone fought for Germany in my family.

My teacher's dad was in WWII, and he was in a German prison camp for 2 years and he survived.
He came in to talk about it, it was really interesting.

My grandfather on my moms side was a major in the US army and landed on Dday and survived, unfortunately he died before I was born. Wish I could of met him. Also he brought home a nazi helmet he got from a guy who he killed
