Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak? - My current activity is not nearly as noticeable as it was before I resigned, however, after recently joining the community once again I have started spending more time on the servers, forums, and teamspeak. I will continue to improve my activity until it reaches an acceptable state. This will be much easier with summer ever nearing due to the massive amount of free time I will have. As for being helpful, I have always tried to the best of my abilities to assist where my assistance is needed. Whether this means answering a question on one of the servers, moving a thread on the forums, or helping a player out on teamspeak, I always try to help where I can.

Approximately, how many rule breaker reports have you submitted? - I have never thought to count my reports, but I can confidently say that I have indeed submitted quite a few reports in my time here.


How old are you? - I am 16 years old.

What time zone are you in? - Currently, PDT.

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? - A friend introduced me to Minecraft a few years back and I was instantly hooked. Since then I have delved into the many different elements that make up Minecraft. I spent a great deal of time enjoying mod packs such as tekkit and on servers that I would find on PMC. Since then I have played a great deal of games, but have always come back to Minecraft.

What is your experience with moderating servers? - I was an administrator for a while on a fairly standard sized Terraria server. After resigning from my position, for a multitude of different reasons, I applied to be a moderator on MCWar and my application was accepted March 9th 2013. At the time MCWar was mcbrawl's (then known as minecraft multiplayer) primary server (I believe the other was kitbrawl). My application was accepted and I was promoted to moderator status on the servers. For a long time I held my position, but as mcbrawl grew and WarZ was added to the roster list, the administrators started hiring server specific moderatos and all the old mods (myself included) became global mods. Global mods were meant to not be super mods or regular mods, but somewhere in between with moderator status on all servers, hence the name "global" mod. Over time most of the global mods were demoted due to inactivity or resigned until I was the last of the global mods. For a long time, I stubbornly held onto the position and kept the global mods alive until mid January when I resigned. I implied in the thread that I may apply again in the summer and lo and behold here is my application.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? - I will provide constant vigilance over the community and quick, but efficient responses to any matters that I can be of an assistance with. The most obvious example of this would be responding to someone with a question, though there are many other cases where my assistance could be of use.


Have you ever used a hacked client before? - No, I have never used a hacked client before. I detest hackers and would never care to join their ranks.

Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why? - I have no recollection of ever being banned from a Minecraft server and I do not plan on being banned from a Minecraft server anytime in the future.


How active do you consider yourself in-game? - I would not consider myself to be adequately active since the time of my resignation. However, I have slowly been spending more time on the servers and I plan to continue to do so until I my activity is once again satisfactory.

How active do you consider yourself on TS3? - Once again, I would not consider my activity to be acceptable since my resignation, but I have found myself on teamspeak an increasing number of times with the nearing end of the school year. I plan on continuing to improve my presence on teamspeak in the future.

How active do you consider yourself on the forums? - As stated above, I have not been entirely active since my resignation, however, before that I was exceptionally active on the forums. I constantly checked for new threads and was subscribed to every forum (besides off topic). I was always looking for a question I could answer, a thread that needed to be moved, or a thread that needed to be locked. As I persistently continue to integrate myself back into this community, my activity will return to its once considerable level.

What do you consider your greatest strength? - My humble attitude and ever present willingness to help others. When I was a staff member, I would strive to be a helpful and accessible resource for whatever someone would need, be it something as simple as a question or something as serious as a possible hacker.

What do you consider your greatest weakness? - When I was previously a staff member for mcbrawl, my greatest weakness were my bouts of inactivity from time to time, mostly on the skype chat as I found it the hardest to continually stay updated with during my time as a staff member. These bouts of brief inactivity were mostly a direct result of issues in real life, the most substantial of them being large quantities of homework. This, unfortunately, cannot be helped and is the reason that I previously resigned. However, with summer coming up I should hopefully have plenty of time on my hands to devote to mcbrawl.


How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time? - The punishment depends on the crime, however, if it was only a minor transgression (such as someone spamming the chat), I find that most often a warning is sufficient.

How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time? - If the person in question continued, I would give a second warning in (often vain) hope that they failed to see my first warning. If it is obvious that they saw and understood my warning, but are continuing regardless, I may take action (most often in chat related cases, a kick from the server).

How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time? - By the third time it is apparent that whoever is committing the act does not plan on stopping. Due to this, I react in a fashion that fits the situation (in most instances, a kick).


What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums? - This has happened once before on the enjin forums. I had a misunderstanding with another forum user and was proved wrong in our argument. Afterwards, I was deeply apologetic and made it known so publicly.

What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums? - It depends on what rule was broken. If it is something slight that I can fix myself (such as a gravedig) I would respond in an appropriate manner (in the case of a gravedig, by locking the thread). If it is something more serious, I would alert the higher ups.

When would you lock a thread? - There are a few situations when locking a thread is necessary, one of the most common being a gravedig on the thread. Others include when a thread is made addressing an issue already addressed in several other threads (for instance, there is a bout of lag on the servers and 5 people all make identical threads complaining about it), when a flame war is being held on the thread, when a lock is requested by the original poster, or when someone made a thread to report another player(I would include a response for them to report in the correct section of course).

Anything else we should know about you? - Nothing that comes to mind.

Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with? - Firstly, it depends if the map in question is one with a known bug that allows players out of map, if it is I generally will warn the player to return to the map or they will be kicked. If it is not a map with a known bug and it is apparent that the player most likely got out of the map with illegitimate resources, then I will screenshot the player, kick them from the server, and proceed to report them using the correct google form.

Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work? - I will admit that I am woefully inept when it comes to some plugins, however, I am well aware of the commands given to moderators as having used them myself many times.

Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away? - I fully realize that any abuse of power or disrespect would inevitably lead to a dishonorable discharge from the ranks of staff members.

 

I agree with the +0s regarding how early my application is. As I stated at the start, I realize that it is extremely early but I felt that I should submit it at this time because of the apparent shortage of moderators for warz, especially with the massive wave of players that came with the new map. I do plan on increasing my activity and I am already in the process of doing so.

 

An understandable concern that I will continue working towards rectifying.
