That's it. @Gynamo leaving was the last straw. I cannot believe how many people have been d dosed, and how some of the staff has turned a blind eye on it. I mean no disrespect, but come on. There are innocent players out there who are being hurt by another's actions. And for what? Just because they killed a player in a video game. I don't know if you've read the book "The Eye of Minds", but this is turning into the Virt Net. The d dosers out there are acting like Kaine. If you don't know what this means, look it up, or read the book yourself. Because this is ****ing ridiculous. I. Am. Done.

If you don't think there are people out there d dosing just because you don't have proof, just look around you. Look at all of the outros, all of the players who have left this server because some of your members are harming other players. Not just physically, emotionally too. I haven't even been d dosed, and I'm already emotional about this because Gynamo left. GK left. Invader was hacked. jakob was d dosed. My friends and other players are being harmed, and I don't see any action taking place. Some of you may think that the admins and mods are doing their best, but maybe their best isn't enough, because people are still being d dosed. I know a few of the d dosers too, but I won't say their names. I can tell you in a PM, but not a public thread.

Now, I don't care if this thread takes away any chance of me being denied as a staff member. This is more important then some silly moderator application. My friends are being hurt, and I want it to stop.

I am organizing a group of players to try and stop d dosers. To report them, to protest against them, anything that would have a chance at stopping them. If you want to join, just ask me. I am done with this ****, and I know a ton of you are too.

If this can't be stopped, I am leaving this server forever. @Gynamo, believe me, I'm trying my best, but if this turns out impossible, I am leaving.

Believe it or not, but there are more D dosers in McWar then any other McBrawl server. Some of you may think I'm wrong about that, how WarZ is worse, and you may be right. WarZ has a ****ty community, and this needs to be fixed too. But, whether you like it or not, McWar has more D DOSERS. Even if the community is horrible.

I'm hoping a lot of you will join this "boycott", "protest", whatever you may call it. If the admins and staff aren't doing anything about it, I'm not going to stand around and wait.

[IMG] Tallscot I 100% support you. I hate all this stuff! It makes me so mad that people do this stuff because of a silly game. And people seem to ignore it? I would like to join you in your efforts. #tallscotForMod. We need more people like you to be mod.

Coming from mcpvp, I think most DDoS occurs when players piss others off. My number one tip is not to be an ass to anyone, because you never know what they can do. I suggest taking a long break instead of quitting, they might forget about you, and then if you come back and they're still there, then leave.

What do you want us to do? Stay on the servers 24/7 and forget about our lives? I agree it's terrible but our staff team right now is working their butts off to help. We can't help every person(we try too if you can't tell) but why should we? You should as a player have the decency to protect yourself. I agree it's horrible to say but you need to protect yourself. If you aren't willing to protect yourself, why should we protect you? Reporting a DDoSer is fine but about 90% of the time, they are some 10 year old kid just getting their anger out about a killstreak. Overall if you want to help the community, protect yourself and report arising problems. Thank you @tallscot for caring about this problem as I do agree, this problem known as the Distributed Denial of Service does need to be fixed.

I do agree. This is horrible. I was about to Resign once I saw what happened to Gynamo. The only thing we can do now is to stay low, to not provoke shady players, and to stay calm. I've been DDoooooSed around 5 times already, and it sucks. Hopefully, we can stop the DDoooooSers, and restore peace to the Forums and Game.

    Can I join?

I can has join? DDoSing has gone far enough. This'll be tough though, as you can't really prove people are DDoSing. DDoS threats should be an instant perm ban, no purchasing unbans, appealing, or alt-ing to avoid it.

The thing is, we DO report. But they're never banned because we don't have sufficient "proof".

Do the servers have an anti-ddosing package? I know you can buy a service for your servers.

I don't care. Gynamo was probably the nicest War player I've met. DDoSing is a federal offense. I do not care how old they are. DDoS threats are never to be taken lightly. Any threat should be an instant perm ban.

Some time ago, a hacked client created by an old war-z player allowed people to make fake DDoS threats that showed other players saying it.

I'm not trying to hate or support ddos or anything. But honestly, this thread has no point. You say that ddos is a problem. Staff is aware. You say that you want to stop ddos. You give no solution.

My question for you is this: how is staff supposed to check who is ddos'ing players? Ddos in no way, shape, or form is connected to McBrawl. No player has been ddos'ed because the forums leaked ip's, ts3 can have ip's traced, or in game ip's were traced. Players make mistakes by using skype. We have threads on how to protect yourself from being ddos'ed. The players who don't do this put themselves at risk.

I used to team with very bad people, who can track ip's and things. I was in a skype call with them once when he said, "bob what would you say the downtown part of (my town) is like?" I freaked about because he traced me, found out where I lived, and and most importantly got my ip. I did the steps to protect myself and have even stopped teaming with them. They haven't done anything to me.

I do agree though, all people who have been banned for ddos should receive a permanent ip ban.

So you think every piece of evidence submitted is a player with a hacked client up to malicious intents trying to get others in trouble?

How do we know it is or isn't? Let's say I do pm a ddos threat. I can just say I never said it and it was a hacked client. Let's say I never do make a threat, and I get banned for an incorrect reason. How am I supposed to appeal? Chris doesn't ban unless he's 99% sure.

I agree. DDoS's cannot be proven. However, we can submit reports of threats. I think it should go like this.

1 Threat = Kick, no warning.
2 Threats (Total) = Temp ban for 1 hour.
3 Threats (Total) = Temp ban for 12 hours.
4 Threats (Total) = Temp ban for 24 hours.
5+ Threats (Total) = Perm ban. No Alts, purchased unbans, or appeals allowed.

Essentially yes. Advertisements and DDoS threats are harder to submit now unless you essentially record it live in chat. I disagree every player however we have had hundreds of players banned because of this problem. Before the client, people would photoshop the people and put in fake messages. When we found out, we had to unban a lot of people. When the client came out, it was literally undetectable... So yes, not everyone has the client but you can't be too cautious. :/

Even so, you could bind a macro that activates the hack to fake the message, making it look like they send the pm to you without you typing.

Wait, now is a perfect time for my quote!

"There is no way to patch stupid.
    -bob8is8cool

Ddos over Minecraft is simply stupid.

That doesn't mean we do nothing about it! Just because something is stupid doesn't mean you ignore it. It may be stupid, but you don't ignore stupid.

What do you propose then? We watch over ever player who's joins War and WarZ?
