This year marks the centenary (that means 100th anniversary vocab dummies) of the first year of World War 1. I've always kind of wanted to make a WW1 map, but I've always run into problems, like what blocks to make the terrain out of and how big to make the trenches. But I finally just went and made one, and here it is. Keep in mind that this is still a work in progress, but it's "mostly" done.

    Description:
There are 2 sides. The side of the Central powers, and the side of the Allied powers. You can figure out which side is which by looking at what language the signs are in. BTW, if you speak German or French and the signs say strange things (which wouldn't surprise me because I used Google Translate LOL), please tell me so I can correct it. Each side has 2 trenches (forward and support/reserve). I would have done 3 trenches which would have been more accurate, but... space issues. Each side also has a flag for CTF. However, I don't reccomend it for crowded servers, because getting the flag across no mans land with all the snipers there will be would suck. Also, this map is only for the gamemodes listed in the title. There are a few mega op camping spots and the rest of the map sucks for it. There are several craters across the map, some are filled with water. The left side (from the German's POV) of the map has a ruined trench (German side) and a flooded trench (Allied side). Most of the fighting is focused on the right side (again from the German's POV) where the flags and undamaged trenches are. Inbetween the two sides is "no man's land" which contains barbed wire,
craters, and a couple of dead trees. There is also a tunnel running from the ruined trench on the German side, to an opening in front of the flooded trench on the French side. There is a natural barrier around the perimiter of the map to keep people in. So you can't go very far up the hills. Screenshots and other information will be listed below.

Here is a corner view of the entire map [Updated]. More screenshots in the imgur link.

There is no download link. Instead, the map can be found on creative.mcbrawl.com
    Location - x: 1250 z: -1400 or Plot Id: 4;-4 in World 2

If you have any suggestions on how I can improve this, please leave a comment below.

I think it would be awesome if we had another D-day TYPE map. Not the same, similar, but without all the negative parts. Maybe a little more detail, but I really like the setting.

Looks nice so far, it's a wip, so I think it will look good once you finish the map.

    You spelled "century" wrong... ._.

Wow! This map is looking great! Make sure you check for OOM glitches and I could recommend a bit more detail like some trees or buildings etc.

A century is 100 years. A "Cenetary" is the 100th anniversary of something.

You defined it as century, though.

The dirt and podzol make it look very plain. It reminds me of BF3's blue filter.
There should be more barbed wire tbh, and maybe some block variety. Sand, grass, etc.
Other than that, looks pretty good.

    Looks nice
Also this would make one hell of a ctf map :grinning:
The wide and open spaces make you play the objective instead of spamming the skullcrusher down a ally.

My problem with adding too much detail is that a WW1 battlefield is a totally obliterated landscape of nothingness. Which makes it hard to make it look pretty. But I am planning on adding some building remains and more dead trees on the outsides of the map. I don't want to add grass because I want everything dead (cuz that's how it is), but I'll mix in some sand and see how it looks.

Maybe place a crashed plane in the field that got shot down?

You managed to make an empty map look appealing...
    Teach me your hax...

    Ideas:
    Moar trees
    Some burning tanks
    Maybe a crashed plane
Some "archery towers" for sniping (you know the style)
Maybe a more intricate trench system with underground tunnels...
And it needs a bit more cover up above, in the world wars, when they did trench warfare, they had lines of barbed wire... So maybe rows of cobwebs done in a stylistic fashion?

@Pegleg98 In WWI, they had fake tress as observation posts so maybe have stress w/ ladders on them to get a look out. Also the ydid have tanks. Maybe make a large WWI destroyed tank in the middle for decent cover for both sides. PM me if you need help building because I would be glad to. Im good with military builds.

I already have tanks. There's one in the screenshots and I added 2 more. And I'll look into the tree thing.

I do have some tunnels between the trenches, I don't really have much room for more trenches though. I had some space problems trying to create a 3rd one for each side.
I crashed a triplane up on one of the hills.
There is already some barb wire, I will be adding some more.
I won't be doing any sniper towers. Stuff like that would have been blown to bits.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    UPDATE:
    + Added 2 tanks
+ Added crashed planes and flying planes
+ Added sand to the terrain for block variety
+ Added some places for firing out of the trench
    + Added a few trees
+ Added small broken down buildings around the map
    + Added more barb wire

Updated screenshot (I'm sick of taking these, so join the server if you want to see the changes in detail) :

I personally think this is a great map and I hope it gets accepted, other than that I think that the German side is better then the Allied Side.....

a tad bit too big there might be a place where a player can camp for the whole game and do nothing

You need to add flooded holes or trenches with water in them because that would be historically accurate for conditions around the trenches in WW1 and it would make a challenge in game to have to be forced to go through water or run a longer way around the water.

There are craters filled with water and a flooded trench on one side. I don't want to add too much water though for the sake of gameplay.
