Alright, lately, I've seen a lot of staff applications that have not been commented on ONCE and were still denied.

I don't know if the admins or staff let them know or give them suggestions in a PM or what, but I don't think this is very acceptable. A lot of these players would not have any idea what to do unless somebody commented on their staff application, or gave them suggestions. You guys could at least tell that person why he was denied, so he'd have a decent idea on what to do before applying. Take this application as an example:
If the admins let them know in a PM rather than on the app itself, just confirm this in here. Otherwise, you should really start doing this: If a moderator hasn't commented on a staff application, and it's been up for quite a while and you want to deny it, deny it and then put it in the comments on why you're denying it. Because 4/5 of the time the players will reapply and perform the same mistakes they did on their first app.

Now I know that this isn't really the admin's job. This job is more fit for moderators, which I see a lot of them do, like jayden and Sweet. But if nobody has commented on an application, the admins should let them know what to do before they apply again, and then deny it.

Sorry if this seemed disrespectful in any way, I just got a little annoyed when I saw the application listed above.

I don't see how players can improve with no constructive criticism.

I usually post on their app if not I've sent a PM.
    However I agree, +1.

I've never applied, but I can imagine the frustration of not having received feedback...

Mods should stop commenting by writing a novel. Because most of the people would be saying TL;DR.

They should just put a link to signatured's post
a link to 2-3 accepted posts.

    This is my opinion

Most of the time normal players give more feedback then moderators.

It's a complete total pain in the arse.

Truthfully, a response to my application of "Hey, you worked hard on this and you kind of have the potential (or not) to be a mod. But I really don't care about letting you try because I don't like you and you're a **** so don't ever reapply again!"
That would be more helpful than checking back in 96 hours to "Oh, btw, DENIED."

EDIT: People agree with me. Get your game on mods, it takes us months to create a good app and minutes for you to tell us why you hate it. At least try like we did.

If we linked them to a accepted application they would most likely copy it if they don't know what their doing.

They normally just come to me on TS and ask. I have no problem with letting them know if they ask.

Infinite_Galaxy is actually the perfect example. He came on TS, asked me why he was denied, I informed him, he thanked me.

I guess I could have a default message I post on all denied apps with some useful information. Can't promise you I would do this 100% of the time, though.

They normally figure out what they did wrong when the Mods comment. If no one comments, then you should know you need to improve :v

Customer service usually means no service. I'd like to think we can do better.

Some people lack common sense you know, if you deny an application then you MUST post a reason to it being denied. THAT'S common sense.

Sometimes its easy to tell why you got denied if you do your research. If I got denied, I wouldn't just leave it at that, or complain. I would look through the accepted applications, see what they had that I didn't, or even look through Signatured's long post, "What we're looking for", which includes a section about applications.
Just like Sig said, if no mods comment, its usually because it should be obvious why you were denied. Not trying to be offensive. The truth is if you're really dedicated, you can figure it out yourself. At the same time, if you want to know why you were denied, you could just ask them on teamspeak, or send them a private message.

I believe your application was the only denied application I wrote a reply on, because I wanted you to reapply in the future. 90% of applications get commented on before they get denied. As @Scoat2 said, if they were really dedicated towards getting the position, they would come to us.

I still think you should wait for something to be posted on it, or post something yourself before a denial. I don't care if it's kind of a template for bad applications; as long as the applicant knows how to improve that's good. As I said before...
Give them constructive criticism, they improve. No constructive criticism, no improvement.

I agree that players can't improve without constructive criticism. But if it's apparent that they didn't put the work in, or that they didn't read the threads they were encouraged to, the app isn't taken seriously. If its apparent that they did put the work in, then staff should be posting on it.
Posting the same template on every application would be no better than posting a link to a separate thread. (Threads which they could have read on their own time). I understand what your trying to say, but this particular statement sort of contradicts your other arguments.

Sometimes they just won't read an informative guide, at first.
However, if a pre written message had everything they needed, it could work.
For different applications, more information specific could be added.
Edited my earlier post, sorry for any confusion.
But even a pre written response is better than no response.
The applicant will see that at least.

I can't tell you how glad I am to see this post. I agree that applications really need more feedback. If we just deny an app, there is no feedback meaning noone will get better. Directed especially towards the newer mods and staff, try not to do this (https://www.brawl.com/threads/22753/#post-325688). Thankyou @tallscot for mentioning this.

I like this idea. In my opinion, constructive criticism helps quite a bit. I think that if Signatured or Peas replied to every denied player giving them information on exactly why they were denied, it would give the player the confidence needed to apply again.
