Over the past few days we've noticed many different members complaining about negative ratings. After due consideration, we've decided to see what the community thinks should be done about negative ratings. Please view the information below and vote on the poll what you believe should happen.

    Past Threads:
    https://www.brawl.com/threads/22659/
    https://www.brawl.com/threads/23014/
    https://www.brawl.com/threads/24627/

    Possible Options:
    1. Remove all negative ratings (dislike and pointless)
    2. Make all negative ratings into neutral ratings
    3. Disable the numerical total for all rating types (here and here)
    4. Disable the numerical total for negative ratings (here and here)
    5. Remove negative ratings from certain forum sections (server ideas and clans/groups/teams)
    6. Remove all ratings and only keep the original Like button
    7. You cannot use negative ratings until X amount of posts
    8. Keep the ratings how they are now

    EDIT:
Trying out option 1 for now. We'll see how it goes for a day or two.

Please state your poll choice reasoning via a post below too.

Option 1. Keep all the positive ratings because they don't impact the community negatively.

I think option 1 would be the best choice.

But also, since we're already on the topic of changing the rating system, I think it would be beneficial to add a "confusing" rating, that counts towards your neutral ratings.

I think the ratings should all be kept. But I do think there are some forums sections that shouldn't give the option for negative ratings. (Bug reports, server ideas etc)

    1 4 5 7

I also think we should add a "miss you" rating for outros and such

Option 1 - This is probably the best option. (However the neutral thumb rating should probably be removed too because it's kinda weird having it without the thumb down).

Option 2 - This wouldn't work because then everyone would see neutral ratings as negative. Changing the color from red to gray doesn't really do much, just look at YouTube. However, you could maybe make the pointless rating neutral, but there would still be some problems like I said.

Options 3 and 4 - Pretty pointless because the user would still be able to see them, which defeats the point of what we are doing. If you removed ratings from the user's view too, then, well that's just stupid. Don't do that.

Option 5 - Also pointless, because part of the problem with negative ratings is that people spam them at people they don't like, and all Option 5 would be doing is reducing the number of places they can do that in.

Option 6 - This would be pretty unpopular. Having more than just one rating makes foruming more fun!

Option 7 - This would not work well either, in fact this is the worst option here. Some of you might remember, an idea similar to this was brought up when we were discussing what we could do to reduce the number of sh*tty applications for mod. The problem is people would spam useless posts just so they could apply. In this case, people would be spamming posts so they could use negative ratings. And it would get even worse when people rate those posts pointless (because they are), and because some of those spammers are likely kids/not very mature, they're going to get "revenge". This one is a major backfire.

Option 8 - I think many of us are in agreement that the forums would be a more positive place if we did something about negative ratings, but we have to remember that these ratings don't really mean anything and you shouldn't have your feelings hurt by them. This isn't a bad option, we could always just moderate ratings a tad more closely, but I personally favor Option 1.

Option 5. You should be able to explain your thoughts about an opinion without having to write a comment about it that can start a flame war. I agree that negative ratings should be disabled in server ideas, /clans/teams/groups. No one should get a negative rating just because someone dislike their team.

Opinion 1 definitely. I don't like the negative rating system :frowning: it makes people have a bad impression of people.

I do believe that everybody as their opinion and the right to express it, negative ratings have no impact on you or anybody.
Negative ratings shouldn't be seen as bad things that nobody likes, they should be seen as somebody stating their opinion.
    Therefore I choose option 8

I would remove the neutral one. That one is simply pointless. If you are neutral to a comment or thread taking the time to state that you do not care shows that you do care. If someone was truly impartial they would not rate it in the first place.
I understand how it is suppose to work, the problem is it does not work.

    Option 8.

The negative ratings shouldn't affect the community.
    Just keep em.

    Exactly.
