Should a wiki section dedicated to compiling the history of Mcbrawl be added?

    Wouldn't it be interesting to have a wiki section dedicated to the history of mcbrawl? Wouldn't it be nice to see where we came from and how we got to where we are today? Have you ever wondered who was responsible for the creation of the builds in-game? Wouldn't it be great if we could recognize the people who got us where we are today? I think a wiki section dedicated to the history of mcbrawl would be an excellent addition. Perhaps it would not have to be added immediately, as I realize that our wiki is still undergoing some major changes, but I think it is still worth considering.


    Allow me to explain what this history section would look like. There would be a server history, a forums history, and a staff history. The server history would consist of links that would lead to the server's update logs and the announcement of new servers. This would serve primarily to organize our somewhat disorganized development log section. It would also have links that branch off into other threads such as the threads of maps, minigames, and server ideas that were accepted. Through this it would recognize those who, through their effort and hard work, contributed builds or formulated ideas added into the servers. It is very important to me to recognize these people lest what they have done for us be forgotten as time goes by. There would also be a section in the server history wiki that listed all of the past winners of the official mcbrawl contests such as the crossbow contest, or the minestrike tournament. Let's not forget them either!


    The forums history section would be similar to the server history section. Instead of detailing the changes to the servers, however, it would list additions and changes to the forums. It would list important things such as: forum site switches, new sections, new forums ideas that were added, new themes, and generally anything else forums related. This section would also have links that branched off into the threads of accepted ideas for the same reasons I mentioned previously. Let's not forget those whose ideas impacted the forums.


    The staff history section would list all of the past staff members and their history of promotions, demotions, and resignations. This would include trial mods, mods, the old global mods, super mods, admins, coders, and the wiki team. Now, I know what you are thinking. There have been ideas in the past that attempted to recognize our previous staff members, but there have been issues about proper recognition, and debates whether or not demoted staff members deserve to be recognized. Well, here is how I would deal with that problem. The staff history section would show how long each staff member served the community in their position. This would include all of the previous staff, so the public would be able to see whether they served in their position for six days, or six months. It would also list their reasons for demotion, thus properly and truthfully stating the past impersonally. Note that this would be a history of their time as a staff member, not as a regular member. This section would simply show how long they served for; it would not go into any of their past actions, whether good or bad. The section has to be impersonal due to some of the issues with past staff member's behavior after losing their rank. I don't see an issue with compiling some basic facts about our past staff. It wouldn't give them any special rank, nor status. They wouldn't even be on the staff page! It would merely acknowledge their existence, not taking into account their good or bad deeds.


    So, in conclusion, I would like to see a wiki section dedicated to the history of mcbrawl because it would be cool to see how we got where we are currently, but mainly because I would like to recognize those who made an impact on our community. What do you guys think? Please tell me if you think this would be a good idea, and don't hesitate to make suggestions!

    That is a long-ass thread.
    But there are a few issues.
    Some servers (War) are extremely old, and anyone who knows what it was like in the past has either forgotten or left the server. (and probably forgotten)

    This is an amazing idea :smile:. Seeing as I am one of the older members of the MPS community I would love to see the last honoured. It would be awesome for new members to see what McBrawl (MPS) was like when it was first created.

    Well be assured that we are considering the idea but imagine how difficult it would be too find all the info ( dates and stuff )

    I really like the idea, but most of the old info has been deleted.
    I remember when the prestige guns came out! :smile:

    I apologize for the length, but I think it was necessary to adequately describe the idea.
    If it can't be done, then it can't be done. But how many histories can you think of that are 100% complete? It need not possess everything, just what we have left. We should at least compile what we have of the past and begin adding the new information as it comes out. We don't want our past to slip away from us.

    Also, any thoughts on the staff history section? I know that it's super-controversial, and I want to see what you guys think about that. I did my best to prevent any issues that might arise from it's creation. Do you guys see an issue with it's implementation?

    The lack of info can be a problem but I'm sure it can be done.

    Just out of curiosity, is it the wiki team that makes the ultimate decision to create this section, or the high ranking staff?

    The administration makes the actual sections. However, technically it's the wiki team that decides whether it should be added or not since we're the ones working on it.
