    I made this thread for anyone who plays Destiny, and is interested in getting better. I'll just be sharing some tips that I've learned while playing. Feel free to discuss how you play the game, or any tips that you might have yourself.
    Grimoire Cards
    [IMG]
    Grimoire Cards are cards that you can view on bungie.net, (Navigate to the "grimoire" tab, to the left of the screen) They reveal more information about guns, damage types, vehicles, enemies and pretty much everything lore related you would want to know.
    Why is this important? Because it can affect gameplay. That's right, you can earn more glimmer with grimoire cards. In order to do this, you need either Ether Seeds(which boost the amount of glimmer you receive from fallen enemies) or another consumable that boosts your glimmer loot count. The amount of glimmer you'll receive will be boosted based on your fallen(or other enemy type) kill rank.

    Another way to benefit from grimoire cards is through Patrol. For instance, completing 50 VIP mission on a planet boosts the amount of materials you receive in that area.

    Grimoire Score
    Grimoire is character specific, and can be boosted by codes, reviving dead ghosts, or just by killing lots of enemies. Dead Ghost locations for earth can be found in this video, and the rest can be found in PowerPyx's other videos. To boost your grimoire score with codes, just scroll down to the codes section.
    Gold Chests

    [IMG]
    There are 5 Gold chests on every planet. Each one gives random loot, including large amounts of glimmer. Collect all 5 on a planet to get an even more cial prize. The special prize is does not factor with level, so I don't advise finding all gold chests when you reach a high level, unless you have OCD and want full completion. Having said this, it is a good idea to grab all the chests on earth before you leave, because you'll be granted with a new, faster sparrow.
    Here's a video of all the chests on the moon, by our friend Datto. He has vidoes of where to find the rest of the gold chests as well.
    Materials & Farming

    In this screenshot, you can see a weapon upgrade: "Patience And Time". It costs 500 Glimmer. But not all weapon upgrades cost only glimmer. Some need Weapon Parts, Relic Iron, Helium Filaments.
    [IMG]
    Heres a few tips on how to acquire certain materials fast.
    • Weapon Parts & Sapphire Wire: Weapon parts acquired when dismantling weapons; sapphire wire with armor. You usually only get about 1 or 2 wire or parts, depending on random chance and the rarity of your weapon. If you want to boost the amount of materials you get when dismantling, I would advise upgrading your armor and weapons. This adds about one material, which isn't much, but compared to the base amount is an extra 33%. If you want to upgrade your weapons quickly, equip them while you turn in your bounties. This way you're equipped weapons will gain xp immediately.
    • Helium Filaments: Helium filaments are a material found on the moon. You can either find helium coils on the ground, identified by a glow, or you can get up to two at a time from chests. Normal chests have certain spots they respawn in, spawning in a different one every time. I advise memorizing these spots. Here's a video to help you get started learning the spawn spots. All other planet specific materials are gotten the same way:
    Helium Filaments(Moon):

    Relic Iron(Mars):

    Spirit Bloom(Venus):

    Spinmetal(Earth):
    Some extra tips:
    • As a warlock, jump twice quickly to go very high, instead of jumping at the height of your first jump, which makes you glide.
    • Once a day you can get a reward for completing a Public Event. You can tell a public event is about to happen when the ground shakes and the day turns to night. Beat the public event, return to the tower and speak to the Post Master to get an award -- usually Glimmer and reputation bonuses.
    • You can change your weapon loadouts, even in Crucible, at any time, but you will lose half your Special and all of your Heavy Ammo when you do.
    • Using your special power successfully can generate an Orb Of Light. These are actually used to charge up your special ability, which means your allies will now get theirs much quicker thanks to you using yours. For this reason, you shouldn't hold onto a charged ability, use it often and spread the Orbs of Light around to benefit your entire team.
    I made the codes in a small text so they wouldn't take up too much space :smile:

    Also bungie.net is a good source of getting information. Follow them if you're interested! I'll be adding to this thread sporadically, so watch out for new tips and advice.

    Please do not discuss your opinion of the game, I assume that you are viewing this thread because you are interested in receiving tips, boosting your skills, etc.

    For public events, use this link while you are playing: http://destinypublicevents.com/
    It is a time calculator for approximately when an event on a planet will begin. Common events usually always happen, even when there is only one person around. Uncommon events usually require more than one person to activate, but I have done them by myself rarely. Rare events always need a good amount of people around to happen. I have gone to many rare events spots when it was just me, and I have never done one by myself.
    Overall though, the calculator is very accurate. Now when it strikes zero, the event will NOT happen. It is a very good estimate. I recommend preparing 3-5 minutes before the event, and no later than 5-10 minutes after the clock hits zero.

    Other tips: For the crucible, use fast firing ARs with decent damage, fast firerate, and good stability (examples are the hushwind, the shingen C, and the shingen C).

    When below level 20, always do your bounties. They will quickly level you up. Even after your level 20, still do you bounties. You might get an exotic bounty if you are lucky :smile:.

    Save your class armor upgrade items for very good rares and any legendary armor piece. You are most likely going to
    find something better eventually, so don't waste them. Also use weapon parts ONLY WHEN YOU NEED THEM.

    AIM FOR THE HEAD. This game is like halo, in the sense that headshots are very rewarding.

    For me personally, I like to keep at least 10,000 glimmer on me at all times. Your max glimmer can be 25k, so feel free to spend it. There are multiple ways of getting it back in a timely matter.

    AR NOOB
    AR's are probably the most powerful gun in the crucible right now, however they are receiving a nerf soon, in stability and damage.
    In addition, scout rifles are getting a buff. (I tend to use the scout rifle more often, with a shotgun).
    Also, shotguns are getting a nerf on range. Source: bungie.net.

    Also another neat a video found, about what setup is optimal for the crucible, for armor, recovery and agility. Turns out the the armor stat only has a very small effect, so I advise upgrading agility and recovery as much as you can, since they both have a greater impact.

    Shingen c and shingen c? I think you mean Shingen E and Shingen C. Shingen E is the best gun in the crucible.

    Hushwind is slightly better to me, that thing is a beast. The Vanquisher VII or whatever (New Monarchy) is really OP. Two guns in the crucible dominate as of now above all the others, the SUROS REGIME and the Vex Mythoclast. The SUROS is just a boss with head shots and can drop anyone (even if they have say a hush wind) if they are not careful.

    Now the Vex Mythoclast (http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Vex_Mythoclast), the best gun in the game, and the hardest to earn. It is a fusion rifle that fires like an assault rifle. Every time you fire a bullet comes out, you do not need to charge at all. It is STUPIDLY OP. I played against a guy in rumble who had it, he won just by using that alone. I was second place, and he beat my score by like 1200 points. You even LOOK at that gun and your already dead. This needs to be nerfed in the crucible, its just too good.

    Luckily ARs are being nerfed soon, so we will see some more pulse and scout rifles thrown into the crucible.

    Yeah, the Vex Mythoclast is a broken gun, hopefully they'll fix that soon.

    I don't like using ARs because I feel they take no skill :\
    Luckily they're getting nerfed soon.

    New Hot Fix 10/14/2014
    Summary: Nerfed the Vex Mythoclast, Auto rifles, and shotguns. Buffed scout rifles and hand cannons(to a certain extent), and it states that they are fixing some of the lower end exotics soon.

    It's about time they nerfed the Vex and the Autos.
    They also patched the loot cave in the Rocket Yard on Earth for the Fallen. However, they did not state if the Hive loot cave, which was right next to it, will be patched. Even so, I know of a loot cave that is even better than both of those. I tried it out for like 5 minutes, farming just isn't my thing really.

    The Dark Below DLC came out recently, got it a couple days ago. It includes 3 new multiplayer maps, a new strike, raid and 3 new story missions.

    The story missions are pretty fun. More content than I thought there would be. Although the story and dialogue itself is un-followable. New multiplayer maps are always good. Don't have much else to say about that.

    If you want a good channel to follow Destiny, and get tips on what exotics to buy, etc. I'd look at DattoDoesDestiny.

    If anyone has anything else to say about the new DLC, feel free to share.

    The Destiny Youtubers that I have watched are DPJ, thePwnstar4hire, and MoreConsole. I go to them for raid tips, see what legendaries to buy, and how to solo the nightfalls. Pretty helpful guys in my opinion. I will warn that they sometimes use vulgar language, so if that is not your thing I would skip them.

    Oh, here are some good destiny related websites for people to try out:
    (already said this earlier) http://destinypublicevents.com/ This website is useful for figuring out when a public event is about to happen. This can be very beneficial in earning the daily event package in the tower, and also earning ascendants, coins, and motes of light. Also, it has a very useful tab that tells you the exact amount of rep you need to level up a faction or something.
    http://destinyghosthunter.net/index.php This website tells you EXACTLY which dead ghosts in the game you still need, and where you can find them.
    http://www.destinylfg.com/ or http://www.destinylfg.net/ Very good and helpful website where you post basic information about your guardian so that you can find a group for the end game stuff like raids and nightfalls. It helps if you want to do things like raids, but you do not have any friends that have destiny.

    Will you be adding stuff on Exotic bounties or weapons anytime soon? I'm a Level 25 Warlock with only 2 legendaries (LDR-5001 and Viper Spine boots) and have no idea how to get the bounties because I'm still technically learning the game.

    I personally don't play Destiny anymore, although I do know that exotic bounties are completely random. You have a random chance to receive one whenever you turn in a normal bounty. You can find a list of the six exotic bounties here.

    Everytime you turn in a bounty, there is a small chance to get an exotic bounty. The only real way to get them fast is to do all the bounties for a day, and get lucky. I would advise doing the Thorn one first, since it is the best one. However, it is also one of the hardest bounties to do.
    I still play Destiny and know quite a bit about it, so I guess I can answer future questions.
