    A lottery ticket costs $0.50 and contains four distinct numbers from 1 to 20, inclusive. How much money would a person need to spend to buy a lottery ticket for every possible combination of four numbers?

    Thank you guys you don't have to help if you don't want to but I need help this <3

    Well, the combinations will be 19 + 18 + 17 and so on, the once you get to adding one, you need to multiply that by 4 then multiply that by 0.50 and then there is your answer.
    I think I did that wrong :v

    I think it's 204 So, 20x20x20x20 Because you have 20 numbers and that's 160000 combinations. $0.50 for every combination makes it 160000:2 = $80000 (I hope that's right :stuck_out_tongue: I always forget how you do this Dx)

    0.50 for 1 ticket (Or 4 numbers)
    w,x,y,z
    w being number 1 and so on.
    w,x,y,z is one single ticket which costs half a dollar or .50
    The number can go up to 20.
    There are 4 numbers
    There are 20 possible solutions for each possible number per ticket.
    20*20*20*20=160000

    Now each ticket costs .50 so 160000*.50 or 1/2

    so $80,000.

    This means that @patrickdemooij9 was right.

    Hope we helped, anything else just ask (Unless it's Calculus, Precal, etc. xD )

    I'd beg to differ... All it is is using quadratic formula, matrix algebra, and simplifying... XD
    Try proving golden ratio :V

    Solve x² - 12x = 28 //-28

    [IMG]

    x²-12x - 28 = 0

    x 1/2 = -p/2 ± √ (p/2)² - q

    x1/2 = +12/2 ± √ (12/2)² + 28

    x1/2 = 6 ± 8

    x1 = 14
    x2 = -2

    You can also use the quadratic formula

    Answer: D
    multiple choice is so easy :3

    The golden equation being quadratic I assume? If that is what I think you're saying... You're an idiot hue.
    Do you know why quadratic works? Quadratic = completed square ax^2+bx+c ;v

    Solving with the equation doesn't mean using the completing the square method. You derive the equation from completing the square however using the formula doesn't mean that u are using that method skidiot
    and on teh side note, wtf does Quadratic = completed square ax^2+bx+c mean?
    Quadratic equation = ax^2+bx+c = 0
    Quadratic formula = what choci said 2 lazy to get teh image
    u get the formula by completing the square of the quadratic equation, quad equation <> completed square of ax^2+bx+c = 0
