With the removal of negative ratings, I think that we should be able to once again, have access to rate staff applications.

The rating system, along with the ability to coment on Staff Apps was removed due to people being extremely harsh on newbies applying for Moderator positions. But with the negative ratings gone, people will no longer be able to spam the apps with dislikes. This would allow for members to express themselves in more ways than just voting in the poll.

I don't see how ratings would allow users to express their feelings on a application more, they could either like, agree or disagree with them. You can already express those opinions through voting in the poll.

Adding back ratings would allow people to express how they feel in another way apart from the poll. Seeing as us regular members can't actually reply to the thread our ways of expressing how we feel about the applicant and the app itself are limited to the poll and the players profile; neither of which are really useful for expressing ourselves. Also, nothing bad can come from it - there is no more negative ratings, and they were the reason they were removed in the first place.

And what ratings do you have in mind when saying "express how they feel in another way"?

For instance if you like the time and effort that the member has put into their application or you find it impressive, something like that, then it allows you an easy way to show that. Even if everyone can't see specifially who gave the like the person who is applying can look at it and go "gee, judging by the amount of (Rating) that I have got I am either doing this right / wrong. And also, using ratings on staff apps would be like using them anywhere else on the forums: to show how you feel about something.

Well, you can hardly rate a application "Funny", "Confusing" or "Creative" cause they always follow the same concept.

You can see if you are doing this right by the votes on your poll. If you think he put time and effort in, simply vote "Yes" on his poll.

I am pretty sure that you can disable ratings in certain sections, correct me if I am wrong.

You also can't rate it Friendly, Informative, Late or Useful. If you disable all the ratings I listed above, we have Like, Agree and Disagree left, which is comparable to Yes and No.

Idea: A separate pool of ratings for the staff app forum, being neutral ratings. "For mod", "Undecided" and "No mod".

Absolutely unnecessary, you can already express the opinion for those ratings on the poll.

What if there was no poll? I'd look at my idea as an alternative if there was no poll.

If someone didn't add a poll to his Application he is obviously not ready for moderator status yet.
You should be able to read and understand the whole template as a future moderator.

Everyone can forget small details once in a while, even though I see your point.

This could possibly be the first image: +1
Second one would be for -1, with a crossed moderator.png .
Both of them would be neutral.

If people like the app a lot... It shows that people clearly want him as a mod...
just look at one of @joeymast99 his old apps :V

also, this allows the other members that do not have permission to post in the app section to show of what they want.

The only rating that would have any place in a mod app would be like. None of the others could be used. I don't really think this is necessary since we already have a poll.

Sounds like it would turn into a huge like farm. Does someone really deserve 100+ likes for making a good application? The reward should be getting accepted.

Oh yeah we can totally express in detail our point of view with the poll
No, but a special rating should be added, just a few to keep it simple.

Are you suggesting it shouldn't count as a neutral/positive rating? Isn't that why we have the poll :x

    Polls. All you need.
If you want him mod, yes on the poll. If not, no on the poll. No poll, don't even bother. There is no need for ratings to be a part, even if they are only positive/neutral.
