    McBrawl Moderator Application: fpsHG

Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak? -
Yes, I assure you that I am active and obliging in all three of these categories.
I commenced playing on the Mcbrawl servers in the spring of 2013. Formerly, I spent my time playing matches of mc-war, however, I switched to playing fpsHG the moment the server made its debut. For the duration of my time spent playing on Mcbrawl, I have been helpful and kind to its players; constantly aspiring to heavily impact the servers in a positive manner. Presently, I play fpsHG nearly every day, still persistently striving to change our community for the better.

On September 13th of 2013, I officially entered into the wonderful community of the forums. Before that memorable moment, I had never allowed myself to grow too fond of anything remotely similar to social media. Nevertheless, I discovered in this little community, a handful of the nicest, friendliest people I had ever met online. From the beginning of my forums career, I set goals for myself. I looked up to Pikmin_Hunter as my role model, and behaved as friendly and obliging as I possibly could; especially to our new members. Currently, I actively browse the forums most every day and never cease endeavoring to positively impact our forums community. Hopefully my posts, threads, and overall behavior reflect my mentality.

As of late, I began actively using TeamSpeak. Since October 23rd, I have actively used the program for exactly one month. At first, I doubted my ability to remain active, however, I surprised myself, and successfully proved that I could not only use TeamSpeak for a month, but also spend large amounts of time on it as well! I believe that successful moderators need to possess certain traits such as availability to the public. Because of my belief, I have only spent time in private rooms a few times since I first began to use TeamSpeak. I look forward to assisting users through this program as well as in-game and on the forums!

Approximately, how many rule breaker reports have you submitted? -
According to Chickenputty, I have submitted a grand total of fifty seven rule breaker reports. Please see here for proof. I believe that this provides an adequate indicator of how much I care for this community.

    How old are you? -
I am currently 17 years old.

What time zone are you in? -
    Pacific Standard Time (PST)

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? -
I purchased my Minecraft account on the 31st of December 2011. I immediately became immersed in this little slice of blocky heaven. Now that I look back and reminisce about the past, I realize how utterly terrible was formerly at Minecraft. However, I did not allow my days as a newbie last for long! I determined to become as knowledgeable of this game as I possibly could! At this point, I met a longtime friend that would forever change the way I played Minecraft: the Minecraft Wiki. Oh, how I loved that wiki. I used to study its information stocked pages into the late hours of the night. Until the redstone update, I had every single crafting recipe completely memorized. After I grew in the knowledge of Minecraft, my friends and I underwent one of the most difficult times in our Minecraft experiences. It began shortly after we discovered the multiplayer function. We merely desired to play on a server together in peace. We searched in vain for an entire year. Every server we joined, we met people who horribly mistreated and bullied us. We roamed from server to server only to meet griefers and cyber-bullies. The staff of these servers accounted for the worst of our experiences. The staff of the servers we joined acted as arrogant, abusive, and corrupt as they possibly could. These experiences, while difficult, certainly warrant mentioning, as they marked a significant turning point in my Minecraft career. I vowed never to behave as they did. I made the best of the difficult times that surrounded me and learned from the mistakes of the corrupt staff of those servers. I believe that the bad experiences I endured in the past have molded me to form who I have become today. I have grown in maturity and self-control, as well as learned what typifies a true leader and outstanding citizen from my past experiences. Now, here I am today among you all. It is nothing less than a miracle that I am with you all. My terrible experiences with Minecraft servers nearly stopped me from ever joining a public server again, however, thankfully, I did not let my past experiences completely inhibit me. As I mentioned previously, I discovered the Mcbrawl servers in the early spring of 2013. At first, it was the friendly staff and fun of the servers that appealed to me. However, since then, my time here has evolved to become more than simply fun and games. It began when I joined the forums, and has since grown to the current day. During my time here, I developed a genuine love for the community. This love endures to the present day, and in that day, I find myself currently. I am available, in the midst of a community I love, and I possess a heart willing to serve. What more could further prompt me to apply for a position as a moderator?

What is your experience with moderating servers? -
Due to the aversion to Minecraft servers that I had developed in the past, I did not have the opportunity to serve in numerous staff positions on many different servers. However, it cannot be asserted that I am completely lacking all experience when it comes to moderating! There has been one server that I have been so privileged as to have served on as a staff member in the past. I have served as Administrator/Operator on a server called MedievalCraft (formerly known as DanielCraft). (Please bear in mind that I first joined this server a good while after my difficult experiences with other Minecraft servers.) When I first joined the server, it had only recently made its debut. As I played on the server, the owner quickly recognized maturity and leadership qualities in me. A short while later, I stepped up and obtained a staff position in the server as a moderator. Serving as a moderator taught me numerous things that will serve me well should I become a moderator for this server. My experiences on MedievalCraft taught me patience, and significantly improved my people-skills. I learned how to effectively communicate with various players, and how best to deal with their various dilemmas. After a while spent serving on the server, I became an Administrative Operator. This position granted me access to all of the commands on the server, including WorldEdit, and even allowed me to shut down the server at will. This shows exactly how much trust the owner placed in me. Now, this also marked the point where my job became exceedingly difficult. At the time, some issues arose between the owner of the server, and other staff members. I oftentimes had to act as a mediator between the staff and the owner himself. As you can imagine, these instances forced me to endure a considerable amount of stress. Nevertheless, they also taught me to remain calm and composed in even the most trying situations. Honestly, I do not believe that anything that could result from moderating McBrawl could be more difficult than what I have already endured in the past from these types of experiences. To add to my list of troubles, the owner himself had grown "trollish" to the point of becoming somewhat abusive. Although generally a good fellow, he oftentimes went too far in his actions. Thus, I also was left to deal with the havoc that he all too often wrecked upon the players. All in all, I made a lot of memories, and had a lot of great times on that server, even during the difficult times. I am immeasurably grateful that I played on it, as I believe it has equipped me with the skills necessary to handle a staff position on this server.

Please see here, here, and here for my proof of administration. (The first picture shows me flying. It also shows my red administrator nametag. The second picture shows me undoing a mistake a made while using World Edit. The third picture shows me changing the time in order to get a better picture of the structure featured in the screenshot. Also, the reason why it says "guest" behind my nametag is because the owner never figured out how to change it to something more fitting. He attempted to change it many times before he became frustrated by his lack of success, and stopped trying altogether. However, I wasn't affected very much as my red nametag already sufficiently distinguished me from the average player.)

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? -
As stated previously, I will provide the community with a willing heart that longs to serve. I will always take my job seriously, and I will always perform my duties to the best of my ability. I intend to provide our community with a sense of security. I will strive to make the experiences of our valued players as safe and enjoyable as possible. I also intend to provide our community with a sense of unity between the staff and the players. I have never allowed my power to go to my head in the past, and I guarantee you that it will not do so now either. In addition to my moderating duties, I will continually do as I have always done on the servers and the forums. I will continue to behave friendly and welcoming to all, pursuing the smaller, oftentimes overlooked acts of kindness that make a large impact on our community. I promise to act as is fitting for a moderator, and I will provide reliability to those who need my assistance. I firmly believe that moderators should always put their jobs before their own personal gaming experiences, even if that means dropping what they are doing in order to help someone. As a moderator I will never cease to put the needs of the player first, disregarding my own wants in order to perform my job to the absolute best of my abilities.

Have you ever used a hacked client before? -
I have never used any hacked client before in all my time spent playing Minecraft, nor do I intend to do so anytime in the future.

Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why? -
I have never been banished from any Minecraft server for any reason whatsoever. I am a rule follower, and thusly have never provided anyone an opportunity to banish me in the first place.

How active do you consider yourself in-game? -
I consider myself moderately active in-game. While I cannot lay claim to the extreme activity of those who can remain online for numerous hours at a time, I am noticeably consistent when it comes to my activity. I tend to view my activity from a quality over quantity perspective, as I have always strived to behave as friendly and helpful as possible to everyone while playing on the servers. I possess exactly seven and a half hours allocated to me for gaming each week. Unfortunately, I cannot improve upon this since my family enforces this policy. However, since I spend all of my time gaming on the Mcbrawl servers, this usually gives me little over an hour of time to play on the servers daily. Currently, I play solely on fpsHG, however, should I make it past the trial stage in my moderating career, I plan on expanding my scope of servers to include others (primarily mc-war. Mc-war is in desperate need of extra moderation). Also, please take into consideration that I cannot play on Sundays. (This is also as a result of my family's rules.)

How active do you consider yourself on TS3? -
I consider myself considerably active on TeamSpeak. Although I am relatively new to using the program, I am on it for decidedly long periods of time throughout the day. In spite of my newness, I am still able to answer basic questions about the program such as: "How do I create my own channel?" I find it noteworthy that I have almost never spent much time in any sort of private channels, as I maintain my opinion that moderators should present themselves in a manner that allows the public to easily seek assistance from them. I would argue that I spend roughly one and a half to two hours daily on TeamSpeak.

How active do you consider yourself on the forums? -
I consider myself extremely active on the forums. I am essentially online all day every day. When unable to spent long periods of time on the forums, I check back often throughout the day for short periods of time. My 1000+ posts and 50+ threads attest to my dedication to this community. I would like to note, that before the removal of negative ratings, I did not possess a single one. I take this as a sign that I possess an excellent standing within our forums community. I also believe that it shows that I know when to hold my tongue.

What do you consider your greatest strength? -
I possess many strengths that I know will greatly help me should I be promoted to the position of moderator. I have learned throughout my life to govern myself. I possess no small amount of self-control that not only defies my age, but also reveals itself in whatever I do. This, I believe, has clearly shown itself in the form of me knowing when to hold my tongue. On numerous occasions, I have been presented with the opportunity to speak harshly to someone who has insulted me, or otherwise treated me poorly here at McBrawl. On such occasions, I have taken the course of non-action, thus ignoring the perpetrator. On the forums in particular, if I can clearly see an attempt by someone to provoke me into a heated argument, I simply drop the subject instead of arguing my point and causing a massive flame-war. The fact that I do not give undue weight to judgments formulated about me will also help me to successfully perform my duties as a moderator. In other words, what people think of me matters relatively little to me as long as I know that I am doing the right thing. I tend to take care of my own personal integrity and let people's opinions of me simply pass by. Lastly, I am a perfectionist. This pushes me to do my absolute best in whatever I do. I simply cannot feel satisfied doing anything less than my absolute best. I am never one to cut corners or take the easy way out of things. The aforementioned traits will greatly help me handle the position of a moderator here at McBrawl.

What do you consider your greatest weakness? -
Though I have strengths that will help me, I am by no means perfect. I have my share of weaknesses, as do we all. I consider my perfectionism my biggest weakness. Ah yes, my perfectionism. While it has proved itself a blessing throughout the years, so has it also proved itself a curse. Oftentimes, I push myself far too hard. It possesses a tenancy to breed dissatisfaction with my work if I deem it lacking. But the worst thing that has resulted from my perfectionism is my own inner critic. An extremely active inner critic that thinks only ill of me. I have struggled throughout my life with it. Recently, I have been able to get a grip and stop listening to my own lies, but I still struggle with this from time to time.

How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time? -
In the case that someone committed a minor transgression for the first time, I would tactfully warn them by stating their misdemeanor and asking them to discontinue their actions. Since the first misdemeanor committed usually stems from ignorance, I would not come down on them as harshly as I would otherwise.

How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time? -
In this case, the situation has clearly become a problem, and the player is almost certainly behaving out of spite. At this point I would screenshot their continued misbehavior, and kick the player. As for the reason, I would restate the rule that they broke and inform them that this is their final warning before being banned.

How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time? -
At this point, the player has essentially reached the end of the line. The player has recieved two warnings previously, and enough is simply enough; strike three. I would at this point screenshot their actions, utilize the /kick command (this time, however, for a period time) and kick them from the server for up to an hour. I strongly advocate the warn, kick, ban system. I believe that a ban in this case is absolutely necessary in order for the wrongdoer to ponder their actions, and perhaps think twice before breaking the rules again in the future.

What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums? -
In this scenario, I would thank the person who pointed out my error to me for providing correct information. I would also apologize for my mistake, and take further action as necessary (such as editing my post, or informing those who believed my information to be correct of my mistake). After this, I would make sure to learn from my mistake in any way that I could, and make certain that I would never make the same mistake again in the future. I am open-minded, and thusly, I am not at all angered by these types of scenarios.

What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums? -
I would take immediate action via the report button if necessary (I would only do this in certain situations. For example: if someone grave-dug a thread that I did not possess the required permissions to lock.) After that, I would send the offender a private message that included in the message a quote or link of the post and a link to the forum rules. I would state as clearly as possible what they did wrong, and warn them to not continue their actions. I would also warn them that if they continued breaking the rules, I would be forced to bring their actions to the attention of the higher staff. In the case the they refused to heed my warnings, and persisted in breaking the rules, I would contact the higher staff for further action to be taken.

When would you lock a thread? -
I would lock a thread in the case that:
    A flame-war has erupted.
A lock was requested by the thread author.
The thread was a duplicate of another thread. (Since the thread author accidently posted the same thread more than once, I would lock all but one of the duplicate threads and provide a link to the thread that remained unlocked.)
The thread had gone irrevocably off-topic.
The topic of the thread already has been suggested numerous times. (I would also provide links to various related threads.)
    The thread has been grave-dug.
The thread is a spam thread.
The topic of the thread was resolved or answered.
The original post of the thread contained inappropriate content. (Such as pornographic images, gore, etc. I would also request a deletion of the thread and immediately bring the poster to the attention of the higher staff.)

Describe yourself in 3 words: Kindhearted, Mature, Serious

Anything else we should know about you? -
I believe that I have adequately listed everything that you need to know about me. However, if you find that what I have listed here is inadequate, please do not hesitate to send me a personal message with what you need to know. I will gladly answer any questions that you require of me to the best of my ability.

Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with? -
Should this situation arise, the first thing that I would do is stop whatever I am doing, and focus on the issue at hand. I would message the player, stating that they are in violation of the rules, and I would tactfully ask them to return to the map either by simple means or by jumping off the edge of the map to kill themselves. If I know that they are unable to return to the map by any of the aforementioned means, I would ask them to do /spawn. If the player remains out of the map and ignores my initial requests, I would warn them that I would be forced to kick them if they refused to comply. If the player shows that he or she is willing to disregard any consequences and again ignores my warning, I would kick the player from the server.

Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work? -
Yes, I fully understand how to use all the commands necessary for me to effectively perform my duties as an fpsHG moderator.

Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away? -
Yes, I understand that I will lose my position as moderator if I commit any of the aforementioned misdemeanors. As I mentioned previously, however, never in the past have I allowed my power to go to my head, and I guarantee you that I will not allow it anytime in the future either.

This is something I have been waiting for quite a while now randomcitizen. Personally, I think that you are the perfect person for this role, you are kind, friendly, mature and also very active from what I know of on the FpsHG servers. I would love to see you on the staff team, and I think you would fit in very well.

    It's a very strong +1 from me.
    Good luck!

As Audi said, I have been waiting for you to apply. You are extremely mature on the forums, TS and In-Game. You are active on the forums and your TS activity is slowly rising. I can't judge your In-Game activity due to the fact that I don't play FpsHG.

Overall, you are a very good candidate for the moderator position.
    Good luck!

In regards to this application it is incredibly sophisticated, precise and detailed, it's easily noticeable you put-in a lot of effort and time. Additionally, you maintain a good reputation and you're well-known amongst the community in-game and on the forums.

Through my personal encounters with you, you're mature, polite and welcoming - all of which are ideal characteristics perfect for a moderator position. Furthermore, despite that I don't engage in fpsHG, judging by the fact you are ranked at 7th place on the leaderboards I would automatically assume your in-game activity is likely to be very high.

    +1.84
