This thread got me thinking that not many players actually know you have to type /rules to find out what you aren't allowed to do. The benefit to this idea is that you can't use the excuse of not being able to find where the rules are located.

    Option 1
Put a message in the broadcast that tells you to type /rules.

    Option 2
Include a board of signs that list the rules in the spawn room.

    Option 3
A rules book that appears in your inventory when you login.

    Option 4
    All of the above.

I'll add a fourth option for that.

This is a nice idea but i dont like any of the options:
1: messages in the chat can be annoying when a lot of people r talking.
2: Thats the best 1 for me but most people just head strait out, even new players do cos they just follow every1 else.
3: Most people just ignore all books they get... even me sometimes

I think a 100 messages violating the rules is way more annoying than a message popping up every once in a while.

People not knowing the rules is only half of the mc-war problem. An even bigger problem is that there are no qonsequences if you break a minor mc-war rule. For mc-war to become a clean community with the current system, we have to have mods that are online 24/7 on all servers. This is not possible at all. McBrawl should implement a similar warning system to the one we have on the forums, in-game; Minor insult is 1 point . Major insult is 3 points. Glitching is 5 points. 10 points in a month is a permanent ban. Points expire after 1 month.

I don't think you get what the broadcast is. It's a serverwide message that appears in the chat. For example, a link to the official texture pack sometimes appears in chat. The same concept would apply with /rules. How can one message appearing infrequently be of annoyance when you've got the gamemode/map message spamming your chat all the time?

I would say when I player first joins they have to read in a rule room, kinda like the room in WarZ. In my opinion, books are usually never read, and broadcasts should only display the more important rules. (Ex: no spamming, no racism, no hacking)

All rules are important. The mc-war is a shathole because of lots and Lots of people breaking "minor rules". This has become a major problem.

He is not saying that you should display the rules in the broadcast. He is saying that you display a message in the broadcast telling people to do /rules since many people it seems, don't know the rules.

How about the chat system automagically has a warning system against swearing.
After 3 swears, it is a mute or temp ban.
After each swear, you are given a warning.
This will prevent accesive swearing, giving brawl "a cleaner feel"

Profanities are already censored to my knowledge. Unfortunately, the filter is constantly being bypassed, therefore, this system would be bypassed as well. :/

Just put all of them, even a new player ( I hope ) can see this message being shown everywhere.

They should associate reviewing the rules and registering on the forums if you are a new player in order to receive a free kit or something for a week.
