    What is a Beta&Alpha Tester?

It would be a new rank you could apply for (like Moderator and Creative Server ranks), which would allow for you to play all of the upcoming servers before they release it to the public. I think this would be a great improvement allowing normal members to see what's coming up, an how to make it better.

Why would we need such a rank?

    Here are a few reasons:

    1) Although we have staff members that can test servers out, their job is to watch chat, use Teamspeak, etc. Let's just say - testing for bugs isn't their priority.
While the job of a Beta tester is to try out, look for bugs and suggest improvements.

    2) Becoming a beta tester would be as hard as any other rank which gives you an exclusive tag on the forums. You would have to be extremely reliable, look for bugs, try to break the game and test balancing stuff&patches. If you wouldn't fulfill staff's expectations, you would be demoted from that rank.

    3) Although admins said they weren't going to release anything unfinished to the public, they sort of have done it with both murder and Kitbrawl servers (both had updates afterwards). And Beta Testers aren't your general "avarage citizens of McBrawl", they would be elite people, like our staff.

    4) There would be a handful of stuff to test, like gun balancing on a testing server, new servers (*ahem* McWar 2.0), new cosmetic items and new stuff in general.

How to become a Beta/Alpha Tester?

In order to become one, you would have to apply (most likely a Google form document), which would possibly require:
    -Partial in-game activity
    -Reliability and discipline
-Possibly a recording software to record glitches and bugs
    -High level of maturity
    -Staff respect
-High activity on forums in order to communicate with staff.
-Being trusted and an experienced Brawl member with an avarage knowledge of both servers and plugins.

    These may change.

    What would Beta testers do?

    A) Test out new McWar, Murder, FpsHG, McParty and other maps being added to our current servers

    B) Test out new updates and patches before they are released to public, including War 2.0 and WarZ 2.0

    C) Suggest improvements and provide more community-based feedback, not just staff members

    D) Test out any of the upcoming servers before they are released.

    How many would there be?

If a member fulfills all of the requirements (staff choice), he would be either interviewed (just like a moderator), or accepted. From there he/she has to do their job. Though it would be necesarry to communicate with both non-staff and staff members.

There could be around 2-8 Beta testers, depending staff's decisions.

How would you get demoted from that rank?

    1) Be inactive
    2) Use your rank for misguided purposes.
    3) Leak the information to the public.
    4) Don't do your job well/properly enough
    5) Use your rank for the goodies, for the good of your own.

    ^
I may add more of these.

Moderstors handle this "rank" just fine. We don't do much beta testing, and we always have a few mods at hand when we need one to test something.

I understand your point, yet I feel like more dedication would be required just for testing alone. This is why we need Beta testers - they look for problems instead of you, making your job easier to do, right?

Thats pretty much says everything, there has never been a lot of testing. So having this rank wouldn't be useful unless we really take some time to test a new server/map/plugin before it gets released.

Better polished and developed stuff - better feedback.
    Better feedback - more players.
More players - longer server lifetime.
Longer server lifetime - more money earned.

I know that and agree with you, I'm just saying that we should start testing new stuff before we invent a tester rank.

    Uhh... no?
IF this was implemented, I think playing on a server before its official release date is enough.

I agree...they're beta testing new additions to the server, so it's completely unnecessary to give them all these unneeded permissions. For already existing features on the network, people make threads in the bug report sections on the forums, that's kinda why they're there

Whenever we are beta testing anything new we would rather just pull in moderators to do the testing for us
    - more trustworthy
    - available a majority of the time

List me 5 people who like to play on a broken and unfinished server with glitches that don't get patched (*ahem* nuke glitch, grenade, C4, other glitches of McWar)

It's unlikely that this will be added but if it is why would you need team speak activity? I understand mods need it to communicate with players while they're moderating but why would you need it if your job is to go on servers that most people can't go on?

    I agree.
You do not need to communicate with other players to beta test a server. You are not expected to help the community; you are really just part of the community. You're just more special because you can test servers.
This rank shouldn't be a rank similar to a staff rank if added, it should be more casual. Also, it should be exclusive. (I do agree with the maturity stuff though, but they should also not leak secrets)

But as Signatured said, moderators are able to test the server(s) just fine. Moderators have that dedication to test alone or with a few other people.

And besides, the extra permissions are unnecessary. Remember, this is a TESTER rank, not a STAFF rank. It should not be similar to a staff rank, if all you're doing is testing.
