I think members that create a post should be able to lock a thread, if it's made by them, but are taken the privilege for an amount of time if they start to abuse it.

Simply report the thread with the message "Owner requesting lock" and an Smod+ will take care of the situation.

Not possible due to XF limitations in the User Group Permissions. Although I found an addon that allows thread creators to lock/unlock their threads, I don't think Putty will install this because it's kind of expensive, and not necessary when the thread creator can request staff to lock that thread.

I have to Disagree. If this were to be added, some people could get unreliable. Sometimes, some people give false information, and you might think it was right and then lock the thread and get false information. There are also many other ways this could cause trouble. So Nah.

Only the thread creator would be able to have this permission. Currently, the thread creator can request a lock on their thread at any time.

Yes, but they might not understand the person's point. Or the information is false.

That is true, but I don't see this idea getting accepted when the current system is more efficient.

I know. I agree with you but disagree with @diamondman886.

Also meaning that they would have to be added to the moderator group which would be annoying.

We have this addon, I just don't use that feature since I think thread owners will lock their thread prematurely or improperly. This could lead to an unorganized, confused forum.

I've gone ahead and allowed you to lock your own threads in Clans, Groups, Teams, and Build Teams.

I don't think there are any other proper places for this?
