Negative ratings.

I like this.. I like this so much... It allows to give more opinion.

Will only cause more hate. If this gets implemented, people can easily spam negative ratings and just cause a cluster of problems.

 

There are no ways to solve it at all. People used to be so damn biased and gave unreasonable negative ratings so many times.

 

It would be good but then what about the rate spammers? If they spam someone with negative ratings there will be no chance that they will get mod.

 

Well if mod would require a to not have like lets say 100 then people would just spam good players with bad ratings.
Needs a little tweaking but +1.

 

The cons far outweigh the pros. We would have to return to all the hate and spam that went on. The team sections would go back to garbage as well. We do not need this at all.

Actually, they are not an effective way of telling someone they are making a mistake. Sure, it might be the easiest, but certainly not the best. Simply tell them of their mistake! People would be too opinionated with the ratings for this to work.

 

Let's say someone was well known, active, and helpful, but they had a bad past. Not being able to get mod just because you have a high amount of negative ratings seems highly rigged.

 

So the players that have had a bad past on the forums when they were younger and less mature, should never be able to get Moderator at all a year after the incident when they are more mature?
People change, just because you got xx negative ratings "a year ago" when you were less mature shouldn't mean that you will never be able to get Moderator.

 

The reason that the negative and neutral ratings were removed were:
1. It was easily abused
2. People got sad if they got it.

And i got some solutions for that :V

for 1. Just ban the person and remove all the negative ratings he spammed. It has been done before.
and for 2. Lemme just say the following thing: THIS IS THE INTERNET, IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE IT THEN LEAVE.

in other words: people need to live with the fact that there are negative things on the forums. if they cannot deal with that. than that is THEIR problem.

 

I have a couple things to say.
Instead, possibly Xenforo could track the x (being the amount of negative ratings) negative ratings in the past 3 months... to show if the person is well-liked in the community.

So... Bigmama. This is were staff play a role. They aren't just there to have power and look good (although some in the past did do that) they are here to enforce rules, which leads on to how you aren't allowed to spam negative ratings in a short period of time or the sake of a bad appearance. The same applies with your statement, footyb. Rate spammers aren't tolerated on the forums.
Credo. If the player is so damn biased, then you solve the problem with them and try to work it out in a friendly manner, unlike how many people do it today. Also, if they (yet again) spam you with 4+ negative ratings in a period of a day or so without good reason as to why, then the ratings should be removed the user should be warned, and the user will be watched over.
Other than having to code/install a new plugin to track recent negative ratings over the past 3 months or so, I like this idea.

The hate and spam would be settled with the staff enforcing the rules. I personally would hate to type up an explanation for why the post contained content that was late, pointless, or disliked by me. And also you can settle the dispute or hatred in a friendly manner.
And like Romke said, if you can't handle any form of hate, then you should turn off your computer and get a life. Life isn't just sunshine and flowers.

 

I don't think that's possible. The addon creator didn't setup his addon to track negative ratings in that way.

 

I approved of the removal of negative ratings, I do not want to see them back.
Also, it's been a while since neutrals were removed and I kind of like it now. (except for the fact that I can't use disagree)
Negative ratings back wouldn't work because:

• Flame wars over ratings
• Off topic/unneeded/spam posts (OMG WHY DID U GIVE ME RATING NEGATIVE OMG)
• Negative rating abusers
• Hard to report someone for misusing the rating system

Neutral ratings had a similar issue with the Confusing rating. That was considered a negative by much of the community.
I do not want to see negative ratings back, the community is bad enough. Just state your opinions directly and shoot them down instead.

 

I don't see how tracking negative ratings over an x amount of time is that hard to do... it seems actually easy to do.

The only reason why the amount of flame wars significantly decreased is because people are simply too lazy to type up an explanation.

 

True, true. But...
People understand why their idea is not good, and the commenters have to be more respectful.
Also, you won't have rating abusers, which are the ones who causes many flame wars in the first place.

 

If you have a negative opinion on someone's post, you can just reply to what they said and explain your reasoning. It's the same thing as giving them a rating, no?
