Now I know a LOT of you really dislike it when a player creates a moderator application, and votes "Yes" for himself. I don't know if this thread has been created before, as it is pretty simple. If it hasn't been created, that's a wonder. But my idea is this: Make it so that the creator of the staff application cannot vote. This would ensure he wouldn't be able to vote for himself. Yes, he/she would still be able to do the normal functions of the poll (view the number of people who voted, and check who voted for what option, depending on how he set up the poll). I know this may seem needless, but honestly, a lot of people get pissed when someone does that, including a few moderators I know.

    Thanks, leave your suggestions below.

Or in the application just have it say not upvoting yourself.

Voting as we know is only a small part in the promotion process. If anything it gives more detail on how the person actual is. Adding this does not seem warranted.

I agree. However, voting yes on his/her own application may show that the player isn't ready for promotion?

You could be ready for promotion either way, though.

yes, of course. But I mean, I would only vote yes on my own application if I thought I needed it. To feel more safe, or whatever.

I agree, but shouldn't this be in the Suggestions and Ideas?

Well said. Tallscot I personally think this would be a little bit of a waste of time at the moment for the coders to code.

It's not like the vote on a poll even matter anyways -.- . Well this could be a good addition but as said it would be a waste of time for the coders to code this.

    Actually this was suggested before.
It is pretty simple: 99.9% of the people voting for their own in their poll will get denied anyways. Voting Yes on their own application only shows the staff that they do not know how to apply correctly yet. This single vote doesn't hurt anyone but the reputation of the applicant. I don't see why we would need to ban him from voting, it is actually a good way to see if he knows the basic rules for applications.

Is this actually a major issue? It's just one vote and the president can vote for themselves

Dude, I had a dream last night that Obama was like in my closet. I asked him if he voted for himself and he said yes, then I explained to him how our server was like online Call of Duty and we had to have a staff team etc etc.

It was weird and I had to post this.

It doesn't really matter. This just shows that they are tiny winy bit immature. As for me, them voting for them selves or not determines the harsness of the post when I tell them why I went with a "no" vote. If they voted for them selves, I am just really harsh and tell them in a pretty cold way that they will get denied. I usually leave out some kind of sorryness in my reply; them being able to vote for them selves is a usefull tool if you will.

People who hide the votes can use their alternate accounts and get 1-5 extra votes, thus granting the positive community opinion.

Usually around 70 people vote on Moderator applications, even 5 votes wouldn't change a lot.

You need more than a majority of the community voting "yes" on your application to become a Moderator.

The community can express its opinion through the poll, but in the end the Admins will decide if the person could be a good Moderator.
By the way, if there are almost as many "No" as "Yes" votes on your application, that usually shows that the community is unsure about you, you aren't the perfect candidate only because you have a few more "Yes" votes.

The thing is the individual that has applied may create multiple accounts and vote yes for himself.
