Yes, I think this would be a great idea. But I think every month mod would be over do.

I think there should be Mod awards and they should be funny....

1. The Enforcer Award - How about an award for the Mod with the most bans or kicks?

2. Mr/Ms Logged In - What about most time logged in time?

3. Screwball - Mods who did very little.

4. The Quiters - Mods who quit during the year.

5. MVP - Mods who managed more than 1 server.

 

Some of these I like, but you don't wanna make them upset, Mods have feelings too

Also, they already have a medal type thing on the forums for mods that resigned.

 

I think you have a good point. It should be fun and celebrate them.

I feel mods would be hurt if they tried really hard to get the title and lose to someone else. That's why I don't think it's the best idea. Would cause unneeded drama.

 

You didn't mention anywhere how and who would select that "Mod of the Year", but I could already imagine the arguments.

 

Arguments? What kind of arguments? If you are promoted to mod, I expect you to be more than mature enough not to argue over a certain prize. If you do cause an argument over a prize, you definitly aren't mature enough to be mod.

As for choosing the mod of the month, it could be as simple as: The admins make a large poll containing all the members that are eligeble for the prize. Then, people would just vote for the person they tought was best. This way, the person that the most people voted for gets the prize. Doesn't need to be much more complicated than that. Atleast I don't think so.

 

When I said arguments, I meant that the staff members would probably disagree with eachother whats the most important moderator duty and according to this, who deserves the prize.
You say you expect our staff members to be mature enough not to argue, but a argument is not necessarily bad, as long as all participants discuss the topic friendly and don't take it too serious.

 

Oh. I tought you meant arguing as in complaining about not getting the prize. Mod of the month doesn't need to cause any discussion among the staff. In my opinion, the community should get to vote on their mod of the month. I don't think only the staff should decide.

I don't see how it would cause drama. VOTW doesn't cause drama, so why would this prize do so? Yes, you might have worked hard for the prize and still not get it. But thats only because someone else worked even harder for it. Even harder than you did. You can't always win everything. Thats someting you've got to accept and live with.
