Okay, I really don't know how to explain it much, but here I go.

You know how sometimes people use their signature to advertise for their moderator application. I won't tell names, but you know who you guys are. Even I did it. I don't understand how to disable it, but a lot of people use the poll as their signature, so I was thinking to disable any photos or links to or from that thread.

What? Disable any links or photos to a mod app? There is no option for that. To disable the links, you would need to write an additional Xferno plugin. As for the photos, there isn't, as of today, any technology that is advanced enough to scan a photo, recognize what it is a photo of,trace the origin of the photo, and scencor the photo accordingly. If you write a program that can do that, Microsoft or Apple would hire you in no time.

Just deny them when they do it :L
It's already said that you can't advertise your mod app, and that's advertising. It's like like if I were to put an IP for another server in my signature.

I mean, if it really bothers you guys to the point of a thread discussion, I'll delete it from my signature.
But just so you know, there's no rule against it on the forums, @randomcitizen1 explained that to both me and ehvahn.

It just does bother me, but you don't have to delete it. I was wondering though.

I think it's 100% fine to do what they were doing.

I deleted it, but you could have easily contacted me through a PM instead of making a thread about it.

What's wrong with putting it as your signature? I think that's fine.

If they advertise their moderator application, it gets denied, I think
edit: Most people that read applications, if it is not advertised, will look in the pending section and probably find the application, then vote their opinion.

There is no problem with putting a picture of your mod app poll in your signature. There is no rule against it anywhere. I don't see this as an issue.
Sorry, I had to comment on this. It made me laugh a little. :V
Where does it say you can't advertise you app?
    ^^^
I "advertised" my app by putting a picture of a poll in my signature It was accepted.

There's no need to shove a mod application to other members of the community. If they're interested then great go to the section for mod apps and read through them so we can get valid results.

There's no rule against it currently, and quite frankly, I don't see any harm in that kind of signature. If they are interested, then they can click the signature. If not, they don't have to. It doesn't cause any issues whatsoever. In fact, it alerts the community that someone is applying for mod. If you ask me, that's a good thing. We let our members put just about anything in their signatures, and believe me, I have seen worse than a simple mod app picture in a signature before. It wouldn't make sense to forbid it. It would be an unnecessary restraint on the community. However, if it really is that big of an issue, we should make it clear that we don't want to see it happening.

Having a mod application as a signature isn't against the rules. I don't mind people having them as a signature, I honestly don't. To me, having that signature just shows the staff that you're desperate.

Well, I suppose that this is a matter of opinion then. Not all the staff think it shows desperation. It is, after all, just a picture. It's not a bunch of text in caps saying "pls vote yes on my mod app pls!!!"
