Let us comment on Staff Applications again.

If someone just comments saying "You hacked before" there could be a flame war because of the applicant trying to prove he didn't. Overall some people could just say Yes, or No and move on with no explaination.

 

Than you simply PM a staff member and it will be taken into consideration.

Now about the suggestion. Firstly, applying for a rank only so you are allowed to comment on staff applications would make it way too complicated. You suggest that we add this new rank so there are more people telling their opinion about the applicant, but this would only cause more work for the staff because we would also have to review those other applications for the rank 'reviewer'.

Right now you can tell the applicant your opinion on his profile or in a PM, I think this system worked perfectly fine so far. Its impossible to tell if a person is mature only based on their amount of posts or received positive ratings, but making everyone able to comment on staff applications is also a bad idea. Our current system is the best solution possible in my opinion.

 

You brought up some things I never though about. I agree that the current system for staff applications is ultimately the best.

And you're worried about staff apps?

 

I don't really see why this shouldn't be given at least a trial period, the community wants to be part of who's a staff member by something other then a silly little poll as we've been saying for some time now. Maybe create a new section of the forum's called "Trustworthy rank applications" Where staff or even the rest of the community would be able to comment on those who apply for the rank, if they get accepted for that rank then I don't see why they shouldn't be able to comment on a staff application. But heck, this is just an idea of mine, doesn't mean anything.

 

Another thing you can do which I forgot to mention: If you have something to say about someone's app you can say it on their profile. It's actually quite funny how profiles get covered in app reviews (as well as immature comments bashing the applicant and/or their application) whenever someone posts an app. It's almost like removing our ability to comment on apps was pointless, except the big difference is the applicant can control what is posted on their profile, allowing them to delete any SNN garbage that comes through. All returning our staff app commenting privileges will do is enable people to SNN -1 post farm and take away the applicant's ability to regulate the trash.

 

Good idea if used maturely.
