?

Do you think this would be a great addition to Survival PvP?

  1. Yes! Obviously!

  2. Needs some tweaks to be good.

  3. Heck no! I hate this! Let the noobs die!

Alright, so we all know of the infamous spawn noobs, who really don't understand what they are doing, but they are just walking around hitting people. This has lead to a good deal of bad things on the server I will discuss later, and how this will fix them. For now, lets get on with it.

    Tutorials for New Players
We all know that the signs will not do it, so we need an interactive way to teach the newbies all the basics and cool plugins we have for our server that make it unique and enjoyable!

    • Teleport them in to an enviroment where no pvp can take place, and you will be teleported there when you first join the server.
    • When you are teleported in, you are greeted to words popping up on your screen saying "Welcome to survival pvp, in order to continue, please move forward." The enviroment is similar to @MapMaker s green/red light minigame. It will also explain the basics you need to survive in the server, like finding food and such.
    • As you walk through, you will come across different structures, and text will tell you what to do entailing to each situation. Like tracking, text would explain each 3 types of trackers and let you try them out, same for all the other plugins like /shop.
    • When completed, they are teleported to spawn, now equipt with the smarts they need to have an awesome survival experience!
Now, let me talk about some of the downfalls of not having this. First, there is less loot to be found, and with this plugin in place, players will be encouraged to travel out into spawn and find some stuff. Next, the mods will not have the huge strain on them they have all the time, helping the noobs, and feeding them. Third, there will be more players who pvp at spawn, making the pvp experience, and teaming experience a whole lot better. This system will fix all of these, not at once, or fast, but it is the best for our beloved server.

This has been Zap, and I hope you enjoyed reading and considering my idea.

This seems like a great idea! If you have been on a server like Mineplex (not trying to advertise) you may have seen a tutorial sort of thing that actually controls your players and shows you around. If that was integrated on PvP it would be amazing!

I do believe these should be implemented in to all the servers, but this will take away a lot from the moderators jobs of answering questions, which is how you seek a good moderator

I see that you voted it needs some tweaking, but how? If its how to seek a good moderator which is your problem (which I agree) there can't exactly be a fix to it.

Well I remember that @Lord_Roke once created a few books that he passed out to some players.

This would be great for all servers. Some are very easy to understand but others aren't. I logged on to PVP Survival once and had no idea what was going on.

I really think this is a good idea! It gets annoying when there are 25 people in the chat saying "I can't find the kit command?! asdkl;fasdjcmakl;". This would be quite a challenge to tackle for the coders, considering Myortvye is already working on something. But when he is done I guess this would be a good thing to add. You have my +1 from me.

If we somehow made the wiki that is on the forums into a system in-game, that would be really cool.
I agree, many times people have questions that remain unanswered because they don't know where to go to look for answers or people just ignore them.
This would really help the newcomers, +1.

I think that once @Myortvye's coding load wears down (I doubt it will) or other coders have available time, they should work on a global server tutorial project for the hub. Basically, all new players will be warped to the hub and there will be a basic tutorial/ advanced tutorials for all servers. This would be a very helpful addition as most players do not view our forums, and will struggle at basic game mechanics.

Some players won't need a tutorial. The ones that do should have /tutorial

No, everyone who joins theserver as a newbie will need it.

This has already been suggested before and it has not been favored.

Ok @ZapCrusher. I like this idea but I think that it would be very hard to accomplish. It would not only take a large amount of time to program, but it would also be quite a long time to go through as a player. For example, if you focus on one aspect of pvp survival, such as tracking, it would take an extremely long time to go through the 3 tracker types and how to use them. I think that if there was some way to give a player a book with instructions, instead of a tutorial "land" this could be much easier. That's just my opinion though.

I guess I should have voted needs tweaks. My bad.

Getting a book is pretty boring from my perspective. A good tutorial would be one that controls the player's screen and guides them through the server. And maybe there can be courses that you choose to learn like tracking, potions, raiding, pvping, etc. And there should be a option where you can leave the tutorial any time. Even if it takes long to program, doesn't everything take long?

Here is a bukkit plugin with the tutorial.

True. I guess I just thought it would be more complicated.

A really good idea. For a lot of our game modes such as WarZ and War, we just randomly throw player in with out giving them help. This way, we can offer them a fun and interactive tutorial to help them get started down the right path.

    Nobody would read the book.
The tutorial only needs to explain what a tracker does... and how to use /track
It would not be hard to program.. they have already done the words part with no difficulty, along with warping people in and out...
