Idea Amputations and infection

    So far, many ideas have been recommended on how to make zombies more powerful to balance frequency have been mentioned. However, even though not originating from WarZ, or any regular zombie game, I believe there is a possible way to make zombies more of a threat. After all, it is called WarZ. As of now, there is one kinda-functional infection system that causes a hunger effect on the player. With no necessary lethal consequences for not "treating" this infection, it is barely disregarded among the prestige WarZ players, and some barely even carry the infection cure on them.

    However, this could be changed. Instead of the low probability of being infected, the chance should be increased. After all, they are zombies. Along with this, the inability of a cure should further result in death. As the disease progresses, the player would experience disadvantaging effects such as nausea and blindness. Eventually, this would lead to death. However, to stop this infection, a player should either use the infection cure item or a much more intesting way, amputation. In a much more urgent situations, a player can shift and right click with a bladed weapon in order to slice their "leg" off. As a result, the player would get the slowness effect until a prosthetic can be implemented and used to regain speed. This item could likely occupy the unused chain or gold armor slot, and would be relatively easy to texture.

    Well, that it all I have to recommend. Comment below if you would like this concept to be revised.

    That's actually a pretty cool idea. Would make it so a lot more people carry infection cures :grinning:

    Mighty fine ideas you got here. I just don't know if increased infections will appeal to players. Might just make it more annoying but you never know.

    I really like this idea but I think it would be hassle to code this. But this gives a more spice into trying to get away from the zombies. +1 from me so far.

    When people are fighting in the nether and being surrounded by a massive hoards of zombies, they don't even care. But if this was added then it would change that kind of fighting because you would not want to get dizziness and nausea in the middle of a fight.

    Thanks for the feedback. I don't think this will be too much of annoyance as only some zombie attacks would result in this dreaded infection. I would say the overall course of the sickness would take 1-2 minutes, with symptoms showing at around 1 minute left.

    Well at times this would be good but for a new player who just joined and did not know what infection cures did or did not have them and got "good stuff" like full iron and they died to infection they would get very mad and quit. But I do agree zombies do need a buff.

    It's an easy fix. I would say stone swords would be good for amputation instead of the others. This would actually make them more important and easy to find in the case of defaults.

    Interesting. Wouldn't it be a little complicated for new players if they don't know how to 'amputate?' Maybe a message would tell them "Shift + Right Click with a sword to amputate!"

    Sorry for the immense bump, I just saw this question. Yes, I think it would be appropriate to incorporate a message telling the player how to amputate.

    Also, how about we add on to the current green message you get in chat when you're infected? We could add on a bit of information about the disease progressing and the amputations.


    I feel like this gives it a bit more of a "Walking Dead" feeling, and this is, after all, a zombie server. This is a great way to give zombies a way to be an actual part of the game rather than them have ridiculously high damage or there being hundreds of them.

    Yeah, well I mean, when they get re-added.

    Another great bonus for this idea:

    It gives swords a purpose again. It seems sad that swords are only for use against zombies so having them as an amputation tool seems like a great idea. Also hatchets! Perhaps amputation could be another way for hatchets to actually be used regularly in-game.

    I use swords to block shots.. They are used, just very few ppl use them
