Thaaaat's right, folks! Another chance to prove you're better than other people!

Basically, the STEMlympics is a contest to see who's the best at STEM-related (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects.

    The way it works:
You will enter one or more contest categories. This is achieved by posting on this thread with whatever categories you wish to enter. Once you've entered, I'll add you to the list for that category.
Once a category's start date is reached, that category's contest is on! I'll PM a set of problems to all people entered in the category. Then you have three days to submit a set of answers via PM or similar, as defined by the rules of the category.
After that category's contest ends, another category's contest will begin, until all the categories have been finished. At that point, I will evaluate final results and name the winners in each category. The first place winners will be pitted against each other in a set of four questions, to see who is the true master of STEM.

    GLOBAL RULES
    * You may use any resource you like, online or otherwise, as long as it doesn't involve communication with another competitor.
    * You may use any software, hardware, or other tools to achieve your ends.
    * You may not seek professional help, unless the aforementioned help already existed on the internet before the contest began.
    * You may not submit answers after a category's contest ends.
    * You may not enter a category once its start date has passed.

    CATEGORIES

    Mathematics
Variables, functions, and the alike. Algebra II-level and below.

    * Units must be provided, if possible.
    * Diagrams used for calculations should be included via attachment or embedding.

    * Runtime and compile-time exceptions will result in loss of points.
    Starts: 24.3.2015

    General Science
    Reactions, electrodynamics, and the alike.
    Rules:
    * All mathematical work must be shown.
    * Diagrams should be included by way of attachment or embedding.
    * Units must be provided, if possible.
    * Use as much detail as possible.
    * Round numbers to hundredths, where applicable.
    * Use numbers given to you, rather than from an external source.
    * Bacon is not an element.
    Starts: 27.3.2015

    Research
Researching is a big part of any project. This category tests your ability to find information in the deeper parts of the internet.
    Rules:
    * Go ahead and use Google. It's encouraged.
    * Sources for answers must be cited.
    * No formatting is required for said sources; a link will be fine.
    * Provide units where required.
    * Irl sources are fine too.
    Starts: 30.3.2015

    SCORING
Each question will have its own value. The questions will be formatted like so:
Notice the numbers at the end of the question. The first number denotes the question's value in points, should you answer correctly. The second number denotes the question's penalty should you answer incorrectly. If you are unsure of the answer, it may be better to not answer at all, and avoid penalizing yourself.

    COMPSCI
    SCIENCE
    @Vexi

Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
