This is yet another one of my infamous sudden-mental-explosion-of-infinate-complexity things that happen to me sometimes. I know they tend to be a little odd so stay with me here.

I think that a player should gain more "ability" in the server's various commands and items as they spend time in it. Rather then having levels dictate the weapons you can use, having them unlock when you reach a set time would be more effective and allow each player to appreciate their current weapon more. Replacing credits, the tiers would allow players to slowly be introduced to new things at regular intervals rather than have to worry about the actual personal success that is needed by accumulating credits and kills. This would encourage them to try something new as they unlock it. Since the system is time based, players would have a reason to stay online longer and more frequently, greatly increasing the peak hours of the server into different times of day. This is an example time based tier system that I feel would be excellent for new and developing players.

    First login- The M16
    5 minutes- The l118a
10 minutes- The spas6 (or whatever the first shotgun is called)
15 minutes-(whatever the first SMG is called)
etc. etc. etc. until you have unlocked all non-prestige weaponry. The ranks would go up by ten minutes after the first set of beginner weapons, making it possible to rapidly advance if you remain dedicated to being online frequently. At the end of the non-prestige weapon pathway you would be given clan capability, making sure that a player is knowledgeable in all classes of firepower and game understanding before making a clan.

Since credit purchases for weapons would be taken out, the use of consumables would be encouraged. Therefore I would also prepose that you should be able to buy (with credits) single use perks as you advance through "time ranks" for high credit prices. This way a player could even the odds a bit against those high level players through an accumulation of kills on lesser servers.

I know its a crazy idea, but I feel like it would make the game more fun for new players to not have to worry about dying constantly (which is what happened to most of us). It would also increase the balance of play in the newbie's favor, making us high level users really have to try (which is something we all know we don't like to do). This could make the game more fun for all of us, or of course it could make everyone mad and unsupportive of the server. My optimism knows no bounds.
tell me what you think below, I love to hear people's ideas when it comes to these threads. If you disagree, tell me why so I can try to improve on existing design! Thanks for hearing me out guys.

So, wait. You have to play like 6 hours to get a certain weapon?
While your idea seems interesting, it has certain flaws, e.g. AFKing.
I personally think we have to ditch the credit system and have exp instead.

AFKing would be annoying, but aren't there anti-AFK programs you can install into servers? (I heard that somewhere).
to answer the first question: Yes. If someone wants (lets say) the disassembler, instead of reaching a correct level and grinding for credits, you would need to play with every weapon up to that point in order to get the prestige version. I feel like to many players get wonderfully rewarded for natural skill, which is good, but what happens when the other shoe drops? Who is thinking about the "grunt" players who players with high skill levels positively mow over? We have far to many players who can't reach a certain level nearly as fast as another and end up being fodder because they don't have as much "natural ability" as someone who's been playing half as long. Reward the faithful is what I'm implying

Interesting idea. I personally don't really believe that it should replace credits and levels but its something to think about.

As said above I dont belive this should replace what we currently have. Although it would be cool to track time and see how much the people on the leaderboards really play.

I think something that you could use to avoid the afk is to kill a certain amount of people with a gun. So it would be like get 10,000 kills with m16 and you get it pack a punched (skullcrusher). So people are challenged to use guns they may not want to use so they can get a gun they do want.

Interesting idea about the one-time use perks. It doesn't seem like that bad of an idea . I do believe we should stick with the current gun-buying system though, as it replicates the Call of Duty way of receiving guns.

I think this idea would be more of something for a server just starting out. Us war players are too used to the system we currently have and so this change may be a little drastic. It's an interesting idea, but as mentioned above there's the AFK problem and it may be a little unnecessary.

as always, I love the feedback from you guys. Note that this is another of my weird brainstorming things and I never expect that it will get more then a "thats.. interesting" from anyone. So again, thanks for being nice to me :grinning:
Although I don't see this being implemented anywhere here (as striker sly said so well here)
I can see this being used somewhere else, so maybe I can implement something like this when I make my own server! Yaaay future!

What about people like me who go do something else while I'm waiting for the game to start? Other than that it seems like an interesting idea, and it can truly define someone's skill level.
