So there has been numerous thread about having a certain amount of posts to be eligible for moderator. Although there is one problem to this. If people found out about this they would just spam the forums more so they could be eligible. Instead of having a certain amount of forums posts why don't we set a better system, where you would need a certain amount of positive ratings? This would mean that a personal would actually have to post quality content to be eligible for mod. This would stop the useless applications and people would want to try and post good things.

    Around 75-100+ positive ratings?

I do not like this at all. Many moderators, before judging, go through the players posts to see how helpful they are. People may not have that many positive ratings because they are not as well liked around the community, or not as known.

Sounds like someone getting on an alt or asking his friends to give him/her positive ratings.

Well that is the point. Almost all or even all the moderators have been well known before they have gotten mod. It is a responsibility for that person to try and at least become more social around the community. A requirement for moderator is to be friendly around the community which would lead people to give them likes on based who they are. If they aren't well liked there must be a reason. There is a difference between people not liking you and people hating you. If many people hated you there would have to be a good reason for that. If people don't like you but don't hate you that doesn't mean you can't be eligible.
I thought about this but then some people can tell if they are alting and then they would get temp banned.

People will most likely find a way to cheat this system as well. It will also be less effective than the 'quantity system' since it can be really easy to get positive ratings instead of 300+ posts. also: what if all of them are funny ratings? than we would have a mod that is seen as 'only funny' and not a universal mod that is both helpful, friendly and funny.

The system is fine as it is. sure, there may be some flaws about the post count but all in all it is as good as it can be.

During my interview, I believe it was mentioned that I made helpful posts. When choosing the next "mods" they go through everything (posts, TS3 logins, and server times). And the post requirement was removed a long time ago, which is why moderators no longer mention it on apps. Saying this, posts are checked, so positive ratings do not really matter.

Perhaps we have the applicants settle this with a sudden death battle.

Spawn them all in Killhouse1 and let them battle it out.....come on who doesn't like idea!

You don't need (x) posts as a requirement, it's just preferred by staff.

I know that I'm just saying instead of putting a cap for an amount of posts needed (suggested by many) instead why don't we put a cap for positive ratings.

There is no need for this only because there is no "you need 300+ posts to..." no, no, no. We base this off of activity, sure posting shows activity. But if you look at @Cuddled's Moderator application, she didn't have 300+ posts. But the higher-ups saw her on a lot and posting helpful comments. That is what we mean by "forums activity".

I believe that helpful posts should be taken into account, not actual post count.

I'm just saying to put a small amount of required positive ratings so new people can't just apply as soon as they join the forums. I'm not saying anything about needing a certain post count. If they made a positive rating cap then people would get encouraged to post actually good stuff. This would be different than people spamming to get 300 posts to be eligible for mod.

How could a post be read by this site and classed as helpful?

    1. There could be a helpful rating implemented in the future
    2. When staff members are looking at an applicant they look at some of the posts they make and deem if they are helpful to the community or not. The site wouldn't say in its program "hey look, this post is helpful "

This too can be a flaw in this, however most people do not rate other people's comment

Sounds good apart from the fact that people can jump on alt accounts and like all their own posts... I don't see how this is any better than the current system. I see where your coming from but it defiantly needs more tweaking before it is used (if at all).
