    Multiplayer Servers Mod Application:

Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak?

Yes, I am usually on all three, Teamspeak, servers, and forums. I have been on Teamspeak since I joined MC-War and I know most people who play in the servers since I have joined. I will be honest and say that I have been recently been active on the forums now than I have in the past, but that will change. I enjoy helping people and working with other people who want to help make the forums as inviting and as helpful as possible.

Which server are you applying for?

    MinecraftParty.com servers 1-3

    How old are you?

I am currently 24 years old and I will be 25 on November 1st. Birthday: 11/01/1988

What time zone are you in?

I am currently in UTC-07:00 MST (AZ)

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft?

I have known about Minecraft for almost 2 years now, but I only got to play it as a demo/trial and on other friend’s computers (even iPads or iPhone's). To be honest, I didn't really enjoy it because I didn't own it and I couldn't get into the game. It wasn't until the beginning of this year that I started working and money wasn't an issue anymore. I decided to by the game after many of my friends were talking about it. Since then I have been watching videos on YouTube on how to play Minecraft, learn to build, and what servers to join on multiplayer. I actually enjoy Minecraft even more than most of my other games because I learn something new every day. Even though I am more knowledgeable in Minecraft, I still have a lot more to know and I aim to learn each day hereafter.

What is your experience with moderating servers?

I have been fortunate enough to moderate two servers since 2008 because of my mature nature and seriousness to make sure things are done and done right. The two servers I have been a moderator for are the following: A forum moderator for stepmaniaonline.eu back in 2011 (Mr.Stepamaniac) and an IRC moderator for Chris Pirillo @ live.pirillo.com back in 2008 (Joshua{XP}). See attached photo and log for proof. When it came to moderating, I always made sure to understand the rules and how everything functioned. I always made sure to have all the information in front of me before I made a decision and I always made sure I let the others know as well. If a person was acting out of line, I made sure to warn, kick and then band if needed. As far as Minecraft goes, I hope to extend my moderation knowledge and learn more from the staff that is present here. Since I have joined the Teamspeak, I have learned many useful tips and information especially from the Teamspeak community/staff that are online.

IRC log script: June 16, 2008
<Kat> ok well. I'd love to offer you a moderator position, on one condition
    <Kat> I made a big exception for you, b/c I think you'll do a great job.
    <Joshua{XP}> ok
<Kat> so yes, if you have a moment or two, I need to paste you the "training" script
<Kat> and then I'll promote you
    <Joshua{XP}> ok
<Kat> ok, these are in no particular order. I'll do one at a time, you can ask any questions after each, or just say "ok" or 'understood' or something
    <Joshua{XP}> ok
<Kat> First of all: There is a 30 day probation period for all new Hops. If at any time during this period we feel that things will not work out, you will be removed as a halfop. Always remember being part of the Mod team is a priviledge, not a given right.
    <Joshua{XP}> ok
<Kat> If you have ANY trouble with another op, please PLEASE come to me privately. I don't want to ever remove someone for
causing problems again, b/c no one told me til it was too late
    <Joshua{XP}> ok
<Kat> Be specific with warn, kick and ban reasons. Don't just kick and say "bye". Be specific. For things like caps... WARN. For things like hate speech or spam... auto ban.
    <Joshua{XP}> understood
<Kat> Basically... DONT do as full Ops do. Halfops do NOT have the same leeway to just kick whenever you want to without a warn. As full Ops, we know the users more, and have been doing Op duties for a LONG time. We can spot the troublemakers instantly.
    <Joshua{XP}> ok
<Kat> Thats it! You are now a moderator! Congratulations!
<Joshua{XP}> Thanks! I'll do my best!
    --End Log script.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status?

Well as I mentioned before, I have been participating here on MC-War since I have joined and MinecraftParty since it started. I know the basics about the server and what you can and can't do and since I am on every day I can notice when things look wrong or fishy. I will make an effort to do what is best for the server as a moderator and I will make sure to use Fraps to record games and record if players are cheating or hacking. I do have video editing software but I am not a pro but with the knowledge I have, it will prove sufficient. I will provide the server with someone who is mature but fun and is able to relate to the users when they need help, granted if they are mature enough to ask and keep composer. I also can help with building maps since I am good for creativity and details such as dimensions. I can also help promote the server via social media site like twitter and YouTube since that will drawn in users as well. One last thing to add is that I am a bi-lingual Spanish speaker so if there is a user who speaks Spanish, I can help them in the server or on the forums.

How active do you consider yourself in-game?

As mentioned above, I am usually online every day. If am not it’s because I have things to take care of since I do have a life outside Minecraft. I aim to be online as much as possibly can though.

How active do you consider yourself on TS3?

I am online every day if possible and I have known most of the people on Teamspeak including staff.

How active do you consider yourself on the forums?

Well I just recently been active on the forums, but I aim to be more active and make an effort to help more on the forums. I am usually pretty active on a topic that I know a lot about but I will read on topics I am less familiar with. Since I am not in school anymore but work, I aim to check it as often as I can.

What do you consider your greatest strength?

My greatest strength is my attitude and personality, I have been considered very mature and serious but also fun/nerdy as well. I know how to relate to young users when they need help and I can be easy to talk to. On the other hand, I can be very sarcastic and direct if needed. I am usually easy going and positive on most things I do, also don't forget I speak Spanish.

What do you consider your greatest weakness?

My greatest weakness is when things I plan things that do not go the way I plan. Also I don’t like it when I ask someone to do something and they either don’t do it or do not do it correctly. I am very picky with details or information because if I don’t have either, it makes it hard for me to understand what you are talking about. I do not like to be wrong and can be very stubborn, but I have improved on this and learned to take constructive criticism as helpful comments to improve.

How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time?

I would first ask them nicely to make sure they do not do it again by either warning them on chat or Teamspeak whichever the situation may warrant.

    Initial steps
    1. Warn by private message if they are doing something wrong
    2. I would then warn by chat so they can see that I am speaking to them publicly.

How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time?

If they continue to do this, I would issue a kick with a reason stating the kick. The kick will explain why and that if they do it once more, they will be banned.

How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time?

At this point, the player has obviously not listened to the warnings and chances given to them to act in line and follow the rules thus will result in a moderator ban from the server.

What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums?

I am always open to constructive criticism and if I am to be proven wrong on the forums, I will make sure to find proof that what the person has said is true. When I post, I like to make sure I know what I am posting about before I do. If they end proving me wrong, I will post a response that will let them know that I was wrong as an apology and I will learn to try and be a little more accurate in any posts after.

What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums?

I would follow the same rules as stated above where I would first warn them, and then kick them. If they continue to create infringements on the forums, it will result in a ban.

When would you lock a thread?

I would lock a thread if the users start going off topic or when it has a flame war. Also grave dig threads will also constitute on a lock thread.

    Describe yourself in 3 words:

    Active, Fun, Mature

    Describe yourself in 1 sentence:

I can describe myself as a fun person with people and open to talk/play, but I also get down to business when it’s time to get serious.

Anything else we should know about you?

I am originally from Mexico and I have lived in Arizona since I was a baby. I am bi-lingual Spanish, and graduated from Arizona State University back in 2011 with a Bachelors in Meteorology. This means I am a weather man that studies storms and severe weather. I am good at working with computers and I am a musician who teaches high school percussion (Drumline). I also like hot sauce and I am an audiophile for music. Basically I am a nice person until you piss me off. As long as you're on my good side and I trust you, were good, but if you are on my bad side, it is not pretty. My trust is very hard to earn back.

Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with?

If I notice the player in a position where they are able to rejoin the map, I would ask them nicely to return to the map/arena. I may ask this again to ensure that the player knows what he or she is doing wrong. I will use /msg as a final warning and if the player does not listen or return, I will have no choice but to kick them. In the situation that the player is out of the map, I will be much stricter and ask them once to return. If they do not listen, I will screenshot the player and then kick him and the bug will be reported on the Multiplayer Servers Forums. If they player decides to return and continue to create problems, I will have no choice but to ban the player from the server and then post the situation on the forums.

Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work?

Yes, I do know how the plugins and commands generally work.

Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away?

I am fully aware that being granted a moderator position is a privilege and not a given right. I also know that if I do not uphold the respect and commitment as a moderator, I will be demoted

I really like this application. I'll vote yes but I am neutral at a +0 for the fact that I am pretty sire Minecraft Party does not have moderators coded in them just yet.

24 sounds like a really huge lie to me but your application is made with effort and you are somewhat active so a +1 because that's pretty much it.
