Hello Hardcore Game players, if you are seeing this guide you are either looking for some tips you might not have known, you are new and want to find out more about the gamemode. I thought I should contribute to everyone by making this guide. This guide will get more advanced as it continues, from being basic to advanced.

Also I will update some of the screenshots to 1.8 in the coming days.

    Content:
    • Kit abilities
    • How to locate other players
    • How to use coordinates
    • How do use soups to your advantage
    • How to find soups
    • What are mini-feasts and how to find them
    • What is feast and bonus feast
    • Tips on taking out teams
    • How to escape traps
    • Strategies on taking out towers
    • What pit is
    Kit abilties
So if you have played a game of the Hardcore Games before you probably encountered someone who did something that they couldn't do in vanilla. Kits are a very important part of the Hardcore Games they all have custom abilities and they can all to different things, no two kits are alike each are original and custom coded. You are probably wondering "How can I choose a kit" or wondering ''How do I get a kit''. Well this is simple, you can purchase credits and with those credits you can choose a kit you would like to purchase. However with the merge I do not know how buying kits will work. There are also 5 free kits provided you get the Castaway (with is permanent) and you get 4 other kits that rotate each month. To choose a kit you need to be in a hardcore games match; right click the chest and click on a kit you would like to play. Once you click on the kit you would like to play you can then click the fire to choose to play it.

How to locate "Track" other players
Once again, you have probably already played atleast one match before reading this. If you did then you may have wondered why you spawned with a compass. Well this compass is special, when you left/right click while holding the compass it can track the closest player. If someone is within 15 blocks of you then your compass wont track them, this is good if you are teaming with a friend but if there are more than 3 people within 15 blocks then you will track the closest player no matter what. This kind of assures that there wont be a team of four.

    Invincibility
Once the game starts all players are granted a 2 minute grace period. What players do in this time is completely their choice, however most player gather resources to better prepare them in the game.

    How to use coordinates
Alright so coordinates are a tool you may use in minecraft, to use these coordinates press f3 (if you are on mac press fn + f3) you should see x: (numbers) y: (numbers) z: (numbers). To lower your east walk/run f: 1 (West). To make your x higher walk/run f3 (East). To lower your z run/walk f2 (North), to make your z higher walk f0 (South).

Coords can be useful to locate swamps, just remember the coords of the swamp and run there when the game starts. Coords are very tricky but once mastered will help you out a lot! I recommend just traveling to different coordinates in creative or survival for practise.

    Mushroom Stew
Mushroom stew is a very important tool in the Hardcore Games because when you consume it you will heal 3.5 hearts of health. Here on the Hardcore Games there are 3 ways to craft stew's.
To make regular mushroom stew you will need one brown mushroom, one red mushroom and a bowl.

You can also make Stew renamed chocolate milk, to craft this you will need to put 2 cocoa beans (separately) and a bowl.

And finally you can craft stew renamed Cacti juice with 2 cactus (separated) with a bowl.

Advanced tip: The most effective way to drink soup is to hotkey, hotkeying is when you press a number on your keyboard. For those of you who don't know when you press a number on your keyboard it will automatically go to that slot (You press 7 you will go to your 7th slot in your hotbar). You can practise this by pressing 12131415161718191 while holding down w and clicking in single player. (note this is hard to do but once you master this you will be able to beat mostly everyone who doesn't hotkey.

Super Advanced tip: Quickdropping and refilling is really popular in the Hardcore Games. to quickdrop it isnt that much harder than hotkeying but instead of 12131415161718191 practise 12q13q14q15q16q17q18q19q1. Once you can do this without dropping the item in your 1 slot you are ready to take it to hg. Quickdropping is good for if you need to refill, refilling is when you get more soups into your hotbar there are many methods but the most popular is quickdropping. so once you have open slots from quickdropping you can open up your inventory hold shift and swiftly click the soups into your hotbar.

    Finding Soup
As I previously mentioned, soup can be crafted 3 different ways. You may either use cacti soup, cocoa beans or mushrooms, but first you need to find a Jungle, Desert or Swamp. To find these you can biomes by typing /spawn before the game starts and memorizing the coords.

    Mini-Feasts
Mini-Feasts are randomly generated structures that contain some goodies that will give you an advantage. This goodies include iron ingots, cocoa beans, diamonds (rare), poison potions and presents (for donators if they respawned). Now when a mini feast spawns it will give say a message like the one below. [IMG]
This mini feast would spawn in between x: 200-300 and z: 200-300 what I do to find these is go in the middle of each [example: I'd run to 250, 250] if you dont find it while running just run around within those coordinates while searching thoroughly.

    Feast and Bonus Feast
The feast is a key event on the Hardcore Games this event is a game changer because it contains Diamond armor, Diamond swords, Potions, TnT, flint and steel, bows, arrows, Stew. Whoever wins this feast has the biggest chance of winning. This feast contains 1 enchantment table and 13 chests. instead of randomly spawning it has a countdown and the coords are specific. The announcement will look like this.[IMG]
Once you have traveled to those coordinates you will find a strange platform like the one below.

after the feast countdown is over the enchantment table and chests will spawn (like the image below).

Now lets talk about bonus feasts, bonus feasts are feasts that randomly spawn anywhere on the map. The coords arent announced in chat so if you want to find one you have to look really hard and long. Anyway the announcement looks like this.[IMG]

    Tips on taking out teams
Before I start I would like to mention that there are kits that counter teams such as poseidon, madman, tank, urgal and berserker. So the thing with teams is to make sure you crit one of them a lot because when you team a lot it takes more time for you to develop a swift souping skill because you get used to having another person being able to cover you. I only got good at souping when I started playing solo, blockhitting will also help a lot, to block hit click right and left click buttons at the same time. Blockhitting will make you take half the regular amount of damage. You also want to focus all your hits on one of the players because once one dies it turns into a 1v1.

    Escaping traps
There are a lot of people who enjoy doing traps these traps can ruin your game and get you killed if you aren't careful or stealthy enough. A neat trick that I use, is when you are tracking someone don't run straight at them; run towards the side a little. Not so much as to were you are going a completely different direction. Just enough to not be right on top of them. Some useful items you will want: Pickaxe, Axe, water bucket, lava bucket and ender pearls. These items will make any trap just not function. If you get maged down into an endermage trap, remember to always hold s if you do hold s you will escape it 9/10 times!

    Tower takeout strategies and tactics.
Towers are always very dangerous and you should always proceed with caution when trying to kill a tower team. Useful kits: Stomper, Turtle, Archer, Switcher, Endermage, Ninja and Worm. Items that will help: Ender Pearls, Bow and arrows, blocks(a ton) and a Water bucket. Something you want to do is start laying out a lot of water so that you cant get stomped (like screenshot below).

Then you want to start towering up safely like image bellow
    [IMG]

you want to place a block under you and then place the blocks around you (so that you are boxing yourself in to prevent getting knocked off). If you towered up a little far you can then start towering safely towards their tower like I did in the picture below.

When you get to them be careful and dont take much risks.

    The Pit
The Pit is an arena that all players are teleported to after 45mins of play this arena is too prevent games from lasting too long. You will get an announcement like the one below within 5 mins of the Pit.[IMG]
After the 5 mins you will get teleported to the pit. I know the Pit sounds like a scary place filled with fire, but the screenshots below are what the Pit looks like.

*sighs* another Ctrl C + Ctrl V. You could have at least waited until HG is added. We still have no clue what they are going to change.

@ArrowHare I did this so people who don't know what HG is at least have an idea of it now. This wasn't supposed to be a fully updated correct guide, its just a basis of HG so people don't get confused when they first join.
