You don't understand. If it's a rumour, then okay. But if it's true, I wanna say that the people who have worked SO hard for their rank losing their rank and it's just not fair. The whole idea of Minecraft Build seems nice and great and all, but this seems a bit unfair. It's almost like we worked hard for nothing.

 

First things first: I don't want to start a flame war. Everything I say is my opinion, and I just want it to be heard.

I'm really just quoting that last sentence here: In my opinion, you should work hard with the end goal of improving the server, rather than gaining a rank. By this is do not mean that you only wanted the rank solely for the status, (though I do think that was part of it,) but it seems you really just wanted world edit, and for others not to be able to have it. This is selfish in my very own small opinion. Just because you worked very hard for something and others may have not doesn't mean only you should have certain privileges. Of course you should be rewarded, but if others are brought up to the same level as you, you should feel grateful for them, rather than bitter. Based on this it looks like you have been working hard to help the server, but for status.

I would also like to clear one thing up:
It is very hard to cause lag with world edit on build. There is a limit of 30,000 blocks placed per executed world edit command, which can be annoying, but you get used to it very fast. You also can not place the following blocks using world edit (list may be longer or shorter, I'm not 100% sure)

• Water and Lava
• Sand and Gravel
• Any type of flower

You can copy/paste all of these items, along with stacking them, moving them, and really anything that doesn't involve //set, //sphere, or other commands alike.

I would like you to know that we have all experienced our hard work turing into nothing, and they we know how it feels. I know you may think that we have no idea what you're going though, but a lot of people have had their favorite game modes annihilated with not so much as one day's notice. A lot of people had been working hard to save these game modes for a while, with the server in mind and their egos on their back. You guys are talking about ranks on a creative server, and the way I see it, creative mode is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Thanks for reading this, and I hope you put everyone's opinions into account, and not just the handful of WE Pros who are very bitter.

 

Ok, I'll do my best to clear things up.

Firstly, MinecraftBuild will entirely replace Brawl Creative. The creative portal will lead to MinecraftBuild, there will no longer be ranks and Build will exist as it did at MCPVP, with some changes (eg there'll be a limit on the number of maps you have).

The plot worlds will be kept online for awhile, and you will be allowed to save and download schematics of your builds using WorldEdit - so don't worry about losing your creations! Please have a look at my thread that xel posted to get an idea of how Build works

 

Understandable that people feel upset over losing ranks they have worked for, maybe they could receive some kind of compensation? ._. Just an idea.

 

In My own opinion, I think they should really keep the ranks because of setting a goal towards something, if others don't work hard enough to understand how and why some people have that/those privileges then it's not anyone else's fault to baby them around. I understand if some people think of us bitter, but we just are trying to be the best we can be. 6 months ago i was a complete and utter noob at building. If you look back at all my applications you will see that I have contributed and worked hard for this rank (WE 2) and if it's taken away, I'd like at least something else to work towards instead, otherwise whats the point just building, It does get awfully boring in my opinion.

Otherwise with players with ranks should at least get something for working hard to get up to that point.

How will the map transfers work? What if we had more maps on the old MCBUILD than is allowed in the new MCBUILD?

 

At the moment, it looks like all your maps will be saved and you'll be able to choose the map you want to edit. If you're making a gamemode map or we feel like you deserve another map we'll give it to you.

It's important that you know that we're just going back to what Build originally was - you were never meant to have unlimited maps, sorry

 

Wait.. Im still a bit confused about what's going to happen. Are our maps going to removed if they go over the limit?

 

you wont lose your extra maps but if you reached the limit or are over the limit you can't create more maps untill the extra ones are deleted/archived

"What I know as of right now, is that there won't be the same ranks. Whether we transfer your current ranks into something that equals all the work you may have put in to get that rank or we just change the rank system all together, is yet to be seen.

We're openly brainstorming the idea of having "some" ranks that deal with donating or time spent on the server. We have a lot planned for Build.

In general, we're brainstorming many ideas that we hope you guys will come to like."

I don't really appreciate PMs being posted in a thread. There's a reason they're called private messages. I understand if it's to let those know what's going on, but until Build is out any idea can change. <3

 

I remember going through all my maps that I was owner on a few weeks ago, and sorted through which ones to delete and which ones to keep. I have a few copies which could go, but three or four of them I either have worked really hard on, or they are collaborative maps that a few people have worked really hard on. One of these maps is a finished sabotage map, so if there is a way for me to save it to my computer, I really need it. The other three however are maps that I plan on continuing with friends (One of these is called derpland, which I Co-Own with xelasi, and if it got deleted/could not be edited I would cry, as it was a huge community map with a ton of pixel art and a lot of other creations.) One was a sabotage map that I was making with Fawely, which we were both looking forward to, and the other was a wedding map which I was going to turn into a gameplay map.

I really need to be able to edit three of these maps, and I need to save one. If there is any way this could be made possible, please let me know.

We're going to try and release a system that allows you to save schematics with WorldEdit. As for gamemode maps, you'll get an extra one if it's accepted. If you've got a rank you'll be able to have more than one map anyway.

Please note that nothing is final yet, and so things may be subject to change.

So, you're telling me that you find building boring, but you only built and got better for... A rank? Privileges?

Some people here actually enjoy building and don't want their capabilities limited by silly ideas such as 'Your application is not detailed enough!!1' or 'I haven't seen you much in game so I don't know if you're not mature or not!!1'. Some people find it *fun* to build and actually try to improve their servers. That's what Minecraftbuild was, where more or less everyone could hop on and help improve the quality of the maps on their servers.

As for me, I think you guys are completely bitter, as all you're thinking of is the ranks you worked for, which is silly as you shouldn't be working for a rank, you should be working to improve the server and to have fun.

From what it looks like to me, there is just a lot of jealousy involved right now. "I worked for this rank and now I won't have it on mcbuild! I'm just like everyone else now! ". Which, is a terrible sentiment to have and does not show maturity whatsoever.
