    http://www.codecademy.com/

That's a pretty good place to learn basic stuff (also free!), and maybe continue to more advanced courses if you like coding ^-^

CodeCademy isn't useful for game development. Go here:

Actually, UWGB is offering a LOOC (local open online course) to people who want to learn game development. It teaches you the basics of programming, as well as more advanced material for two-dimensional games. You'll learn to use C# with MS Visual Studio and deploy to Windows, Windows Phone, and XBox. It's a pretty tough fast-paced course, but perhaps you might be interested?

I'm not entirely sure when they'll be open for registration next, though.

That was very helpful to know, thank you for providing that info.

Have you taken any classes with them?

I've taken the 2D game development course CS101. 80% of the students dropped out before the final :v

    https://www.uwgb.edu/compsci/looc/

EDIT: Seems like their LOOC page hasn't been updated in a while. I'm not sure if they're even offering it any more...?

If you're serious about your thread, Udemy has some nice free classes. For game development, try out C#, Ruby, or Java.

I would like to mention that coding is intuitive, and not based off "skills" as people expect. Even decent to expert coders commonly look up free modules online. However, you have to master the basics, such as class creations, importing files, etc.

Are you looking to actually code mods and servers on minecraft? Or other games that require a little more knowledge? They're very different.

I sincerely doubt that if he was interested for a job application or another game, he would come here.

Try C# then, it's rather easy compared to the other game development softwares out there. All the programming languages are similar, so once you become decent in C#, you can hop over to Java.

Hahaha I wasn't talking about getting a job somewhere else. I meant to ask if he was interested in just coding java, or vb, python, c#, etc. They're very different. I should've rephrased better.

Was joking too :stuck_out_tongue:. And tbh, they aren't very different, except for the OOPs.

Lol sorry. I'm kind of serious with coding, which now that I think about it, goes very against my actual personality. XD And idk about you, but vb is pretty different from java or html. lol

I would say C#, while being simpler syntactically, is probably more difficult to master than Java when you think about constructs like `dynamic` or `delegate`
