    If you don't follow Dinnerbone on twitter then you most likely haven't heard of the upcoming changes in 1.9. 1.9 is going to be a "Combat Update" and some of the new changes is rather drastic to how PvP is:

    • Dual Wielding will be added
    • Shields and more Arrow types are going to be added
    • Swords can no longer block, as shields will

    These changes are pretty important for some of Brawls gamemodes, and even if it sounds alarming there is one cool thing. Sword Block hitting was removed in 1.8 but Dinnerbone has confirmed that you will be able to block and hit with a shield and sword in the update

    What do you guys think of this change? Personally I'm glad to see these changes occurring to make PvP more interesting and not as simplistic as slapping each other with pixel swords.

    I can't wait. Minecraft's current combat is stale and I hope this makes the game more fun. Glad to see they haven't changed it too much, though.

    Do swords and shield count as 'dual wielding'? I wonder if it will be like a separate item where a sword and shield are in one slot in the hot at, and will coincide with using them cooperatively.

    They did it to stop the spoilers. Some people didn't want to know about upcoming stuff, yet on YouTube all they'd see is "MINECRAFT 1.9 SNAPSHOT 15W69A DUAL WIELDING MORE ARROWS QUIVER SHIELDS AND MORE", so it kinda gives it away. When there's no snapshots, there's a lot less spoilers such as ^^

    You can dual-wield swords if you wanted to, but according to dinnerbone it's pointless seeing as only the "dominant" hand is the one which will swing. It seems that the second hand is only useful when holding a shield.

    PVP changes are always fun. May seem like a huge change, but I'm sure it will be awesome once you get used to it.
    I'm really excited for the new arrow types! (I wouldn't mind the boxing glove arrow from Arrow)

    I think it'll be fun for shields to come around, but i still like block hitting as in if it were 1.7. :v But hey, that's me.

    Matrix time. Can't wait. Imagine if War got the Joker's machine pistol (TDK) and you dual wielded...or dualwielded miniguns...I call dibs.
