    Introduction to Build

Originally intended as a server to make maps for gamemodes, MinecraftBuild has evolved into its own creative community. Making maps was and still is a huge part of Build, and we'd love to see you come along to make maps for Brawl’s gamemodes.

Builders can create their own maps which are 512 by 512 blocks. They can be flat or totally empty, and have their own unique IDs. Players also have access to WorldEdit from the outset, with some restrictions: laggy blocks like water and sand cannot be WorldEdited, and you can “only” use WorldEdit up to a maximum of 500 thousand blocks.

All maps that a player has permissions on (see Ranks) will show up in a menu when they type /map. This means you won't need to memorise any IDs (although you can still travel to maps using /map <ID>).

    Ranks
As you probably know, there are three ranks on Brawl: VIP, MVP and ELITE. Regular players can create one map, while ranked players will get 2, 5 and 10 maps respectively.

Build also has some map-specific ranks which allow the map's creator to manage the building permissions that other players have on their map, and they are as follows:

    • Banned: The specified player cannot visit your map.
    • Visitor:The player has no permissions, but the map ID is saved in their /map menu.
    • Member: can place and break blocks, and can use Worldedit.
    • Manager: All Member permissions, and can also use /perm.
    • Owner: The creator of the map; has all map permissions.
Owners can also remove all permissions from a player using /revoke <playername>.

    Chat
Talking normally will send a message to your map only, while putting /a or /g before your message will allow you to speak in the global chat. Normal chat rules apply, but Build tends to breed spam so make sure you don’t do that! Messaging works in the same way as it does in all other Brawl servers, with /msg or /tell and /r.

    Rules
    • No Griefing! This one goes without saying, really. The best way to avoid being griefed is to follow Build's mantra, which is something you'll hear a lot: DON'T PERM PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW! This is a pretty tough rule to police so we'd appreciate it if you took real caution as to who you allow to build on your map. If you see someone griefing, please either privately message a mod so we can catch them in the act, or take a video and PM one of us on the forums.
    • No Inescapable Traps. These will be met with an immediate 24 hour ban with no warning, and your map may be deleted as a precaution.
    • Don't Spam. Advertising your map and asking for feedback through chat is fine, but repeated messages of "join my build comp [0/10]" or similar will earn you a short mute.
    • Don't be Rude. Build Mods can deal with abuse and we won't mute you for insulting us personally, but if we believe a player is being harassed or you're talking about things that aren't appropriate for younger players, we won't hesitate to mute you.
    • No Lag Machines. Any maps which are deliberately created to make the server lag will be deleted.
Any other server-wide Brawl rules apply on MinecraftBuild too. And, just as a reminder...
don't perm people you don't know!

    Helpful Commands
/create: Opens a GUI that allows you to create a map. You have the choice to make a flat world, a void world, a customised superflat world or a Skywars world.

/map: opens up a menu of all the maps you have permissions on. You can also use /map <ID> to teleport to a specific map.
//up 0: creates a glass block beneath your feet; useful for getting started in void worlds.
/spawn set: sets the map's spawn to your position.
/warp set <name>: creates a warp on the map. You can travel to it using /warp <name>, and delete it using /warp delete <name>.
/flyspeed <0-1>: changes the speed at which you fly. The default is /flyspeed 0.1.
/tp <player>: teleports you to the specified player. This will not work if the player is on a private map, or you are banned from the map they're on.
/perm <player> <rank>: gives a player the specified rank (see Ranks).
/hdb: opens the head GUI, allowing you to find decorative heads for your build.
/archive: removes all permissions from the map, including your own. Only map owners can use this.
/delete: deletes the map entirely. Only map owners can use this.
/name: changes the map's ID. For example, if I type /name Rhoske's_World, I can teleport to the map at any time using /map Rhoske's_World.

Well, that's it, you made it to the end! If you have any questions about MinecraftBuild, feel free to ask me or any of the other Build Mods. Any bugs should be reported here. I'll also try to keep you all updated on what happens with Build and the Build Team. Oh, and one more thing...

DON'T PERM PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW!

This sounds quite interesting. If I ever get my computer fixed I might try this place out.

Our Creative server has very well-made coding, so I'd say it will.

Great guide! Also, so, Build is basically an advanced version of Creative?

It is basically creative only your plot is 500 blocks big instead of how ever big the big plots on creative are. Your get your own world with it's own ID and you can use worldedit from the start. As Rhoske said, you can only change 30,000 blocks per command, and water, sand, lava, and gravel will not work with world edit.

It's a type of file that you can upload to worlds using MCEdit.
