    A /ignoreall command or something similar would be nice. Essentially it mutes the in-game chat for you while still keeping the chat related GUI visible, whereas turning the chat off via multiplayer settings would remove both features altogether.

    Just turn of the minecraft chat. I know that in war, you can just do /war chat.

    Doing so removes all features from the chat. An ignoreall command would only remove the annoying in-game chat.

    /war chat only removes players. However, I haven't been on for like half a year, so it may have changed.

    OP doesn't play Mc-War, so that command is irrelevant here.

    I think that would be okay but only for ranks, for server reasons. It would be bad though if you couldn't hear staff members, so you shouldn't be able mute staff.

    Turning your Minecraft chat settings to "Commands Only" will hide all player's chat, but keep all other messages.

    As everyone has mentioned, I think the obvious solution is to turn off Minecraft chat so that you are not receiving messages.

    This seems to be the easiest solution to meet your needs.
