Made this a little bit earlier than next week since I had the time

    Build Tutorial 2: Roofs
Another aspect of house building which I will cover is building a decent looking roof.
Let's start with the three most basic types of roofs. To start making any of these basic designs, just go above your walls and make these general patterns. Then, extend them back to match your back wall. Keep in mind you can combine some patterns to make it more realistic.

This is just a standard roof that I see most people build.

This is a thatched roof. It is my favorite type of roof, and looks really nice.

This is a flat roof. I don't really like this roof, but I thought that I would include it anyways.

Ok, now that we have the basics down, lets look at how we can improve.

At the end of your roof, make some cool design pattern with stairs/slabs. Just try experimenting, and it will make your build look a ton better.

In the space above the walls (and walls themselves) , be sure to still include detailing. Use the first tutorial here to learn about detailing.

    Before:

    After:

Something else that looks cool is to "stagger" your roof. At the front/back, make the top "bar" go longer than the bottom.

Since you will have an "attic-like" space, try including a window. Be sure to make it fit in, and add some slabs around it like this:

Now, to make an overhang for a tower or something, just make a basic combination of stairs/slabs. Keep this asymmetrical, and the overhang will look nice. Here is an example:

    Another look:

When making the top of a tower, don't just make a symmetrical pyramid. Instead, include a nice combination of stairs/slabs. The left build of the screenshot is what not to do, and right is what I mean by this.

Finally, something else that I want to say is that you can and I recommend combining and making turns in your houses. Just be sure to adjust accordingly. Here's an example of the shape that a townhouse could take for its roof.

This is a darn good tutorial. It included a lot of useful information in a small amount of text, and the pictures gave me the visual I'd like. If I was a really new character to MC, I would be sure to use this tutorial. Well done!

Another great tutorial! I always have a weak spot in making roofs, I just do regular stairs.

Yes it does. People use +1 all the time like that, even staff do when they're responding to staff apps.

I use it as a more casual way of saying "thumbs up"

Does it really matter what's being said? Thumbs up, rating post with "agree/like", +1 etc, its all the same. Thanks for the kind words by the way. It is encouraging

This will be so useful to the new players to build who are just starting. Great job. (Sorry for the late reply soon as I wanted to reply to this. Not trying to necro bump :3)
